We won't have a difficult game the rest of the Season? Treble in the bag then? :56:

A whipping boy is someone who fans are on the back of irrelative to how they have played. That isn't the case with Gordon, in fact the exact opposite is true. He has backing over and above how his performances have been. Specifically in Europe where he has been shocking.

Aye, lets not back someone who has generally been brilliant for us, but has suffered a recent dip in form in European competition (the same competition that he almost single-handedly dragged us through last year!).

Let's just throw him under the bus because we're a spoilt bunch of *!

Jesus, if CG needs replaced after this dip, then the likes of Johansen (and others) must be needing put-down!

Johansen does need dropped as well.

Craig Gordon isnt just in a dip in Europe, its been obvious all season in all competitions.
He isnt as quick. Reflects are slow, decisions are poor, parries the ball badly, gifts opportunities, lacks commanding of his area, suspect at corners/crosses.
Thats not just in Europe, that is in domestic comps as well.

He done exceptionally well last season, he proved a lot of doubters wrong and he was a good replacement for fraser. But he still had his flaws, and more since the inter game at the start of the year he has gotten progressively worse.

We have a 29 year old experienced goal keeper, we should give him a shot to see what he ia capable of now.
We also have a 22 year old youth developed player who could also do with the game time.

Since we are out of Europe and the league is a shoe in (even with gordons or anyone else mistakes) then lets give someone a chance. Because id be worried to go in to Europe again with Gordon as our number one on current (long lasting) form.

Players will always get singled out when they make mistakes, specially ones thst cost us goals and occur often.
Sometimes it can get a bit out of hand and extreme, but it doesnt mean its wrong to criticise and desire a change in personnel

He's been poor all season. Dropping him for a few games could benefit him in the long run.

Think we've got to be very careful about shouting for him to be replaced. Bearing in mind, when ~£10m rated Fraser Forster left, Gordon stepped in at roughly the same level. A lot of stars had to align to get a 'keeper of his ability, I don't think we'll be so quick to get a similar level in again.

That being said, his consistency in Europe this season has been appalling. He was a tad unfortunate against Fener there, I think it looks far worse than the reality of the situation (i.e. didn't want to dive in and get a red, ended up their player getting really lucky with the meg).

Ronny will need to make the right judgement call over the summer to see if he's mentally back to full sharpness. Can't afford any more blunders.

    Still backing him.

I know what he is capable of. We'd be silly to get shot of him.

No wonder he has had a dip in form playing behind some of the donkeys we have in defence. A goalie needs a decent and settled defence to breed confidence, something Gordon has been seriously deprived of lately. He will be lucky if he's played in the team with a regular centre half pairing for more than 3 games not mentioning the full backs.

Granted motherwell would have scored more without him so get to fk anyone trying to find weakness in this post.

For a guy whos a good shot shopper i cant remember the last time he saved a pen, it must be years... At least i can remember the no 2 keeper @ Celtic saving a pen one of few games hes played. thats not the point. My point is this guy cant deal with half decent crosses or low crosses coming into his 6 yard box. a ball at LEAST into the 6 yard box is the keepers and Motherwells first goal last Sat is a joke all he does is stay in the near post as recently he gets done at his near post.

Absolutely spot on . He has been backed and praised to an extent his performances simply have not warranted.

    How is it "utter mince"?

He's been poor ever since the Inter debacle last year. I forgave him for that because of his group stage performances, but he hasn't been good enough like most of our team since then. Its 10 months he's been pish for.

Saved us from an (even more!) embarrassing scoreline against Motherwell at the weekend. Are those who are so quick to slate him going to have the class to acknowledge a decent performance!?

Talking of the Well game, it highlighted the problem CG has faced of late... our (lack of) defence! No wonder the lad has had a dose of the yips... it's shocking!

He has been terrific since he came in. If you paid proper money for him you would be happy with him the odd mistake aside. The alternative was some cheapo with potential from the Bosnian second division. If people give out about his mistakes they aint seen nothing yet as a project keeper will be 10 times worse. This is the most important position to have an experienced head in. He is twice the keeper of every goalie from between Packie and Boruc.

For as much as his performances in the EL group stage helped us make the last 32, it was his performance against Inter which hindered us the most in making the last 16.

I have no problem with that. * happens. The wheel turns.

It just bugs me that he's being hung out to dry by some for a handful of mistakes. Who would be a keeper, eh!? Position-for-position he has still been one of our better players this year.

How many times has Johansen been (worse than) an empty shirt?
How many good chances has Leigh Griffiths missed?
    etc. etc.

Yeah, outfield players get it tight for mistakes, but nowhere near as tight as a keeper does.

CG must * himself every time the opposition have possession of the football because he must have worked it out by now that his defence is unlikely to offer him a great deal of protection.

He saved us from a good doing in the 2nd leg against Inter to be fair.

Ok, the damage was pretty much done by then but still.
