Aye your right about loyalty - a big majority of money-minded players. Jackie has left, but I don't think he was that loyal. I know that sounds daft, as he was at the club 10 years. But seriously, he couldn't have went to a better club than Celtic,especially as he is a Celtic fan and born and bred here, so he never had a lot of choice of better things. Now he knows he will never make it anywhere better than Celtic so went off and tried something different. Im not saying he wasn't loyal, but Im just saying was he as loyal as many think or did he simply have no better choice than Celtic?

Good luck to him and I hope he enjoys the fresh challenege.

Im devastated with the news about Jackie Mac. He has been a great servant to the club and im sure that everyone at CP wishes him all the best for the future. However, I can't understand Jackie's reasoning for leaving his heroes to go Wolves who are a mid-table Championship team. Everton I could understand but Wolves??? Surely it can't be the money.

I seen on Sky Sports News that he wanted to stay at Celtic but they board where not offering him a half decent deal. How are we going to get new and European quality players with this board? It showed pics of him signing and he didnt look to happy.

I'd just like to say that Wolves are better than a mid-table Championship team as some of you seem to think. We struggled last season with relegation from the Premiership and poor management from Dave Jones but we are currently favourites with a lot of people and the bookies to go up next season after our end of season form (unbeaten in last 18, won 5 of last 6 games).

Hoddle has brought not only a more modern and professional way of thinking to the club but he is extremely ambitious and so is the club itself, and this is obviously what rubbed off on McNamara to make him join us. Having Miller and Cameron already here obviously helped too.

I hope he's as good a player as a lot of you say, and if he helps sort out our somewhat leaky defence than there's no reason we can't go straight back up to the Premiership again.

Na I don't think money has anything to do with it either Murphy7, I think it's to do with the fact that they have showed Jackie respect regarding his transfer and made him feel wanted at Molineux which is more than what Celtic have done.

He's a great striker for the Championship.

20 goals last season, 26 the season we got promoted.

And even though he had a poor season in the Prem (not helped by Dave Jones playing him on the right) he scored 2 great goals against Man Utd (1-0) and Liverpool (1-1) which got us 4 points.

You just don't like him cos he came from them lot eh!!


Btw, are there any decent Jackie Mac songs that will translate south of the border?

He chances to goals ratio is abismal. Good off the ball movement to get into good positions but finishing leaves a lot to be desired. Jackie was a crowd favourite but oddly, we dont have any songs for him.

I agree with you there, he does miss plenty of chances. But he also puts plenty away in this division too as my previous stats show.

It doesn't help my case with him missing 2 good chances towards the end of the recent Scotland qualifiers.

I cant figure out at which stage in the whole transfer process someone didnt think this is a stupid idea....
All this for the sake of an extra year on his contract!

No the only reason we should have not let him go because now we have to spend even more money to fill his place, im sick of celtic letten people go for nothin even bobo he signs a 3 year deal with get free clause wat the fuc was the point of the fucin deal

Lok mate no-one is saying that wolves are the worst team in the world but Celtic are much bigger and Jackie is a fan. So it is therefore a redface for us to loose him to your team.

We let our captain (Paul Butler) go to Leeds and Alex Rae to Rangers in exactly the same contract circumstances last year and it is very annoying and gives you no faith in the board. I understand why you're upset, especially as he's gone to a 'lower division'. Though saying that, If Celtic and Rangers simpoly tossed a coin for the SPL title every August it would be a lot less tedious.

And with that I'll leave you all be. Cheers for the player. Hope the ginger one gets you the title back, if for no other reason that I work with a very annoying big-mouthed Rangers fan!

Why was the Captain of our club one of the lowest paid members of the first team squad? Wolves have given him more security and more money, now the Celtic board come out with lame excuses, simple fact is they had loads of time to tie Jackie down, Strachan wanted to keep him at the club, the deal should have been tied up before his testimonial!!! Saw somebody having a go at Jackie about his testimonial, as much as I loved Henrik, he was only at the club for 7 years, Jackie fully qualifies for his testimonial. Before anyone has a go, I'm not suggesting that Henrik didn't deserve his benefit match, but I think Jackie more than deserved his.

It has been a shock to all of us the departure of wee Jackie but the fight that is taking place now with him and celtic is just ridiculous whatever has happend hes away now anyway so theres nothing we can do about it. I dont Like what Celtic are doing though giving out diffirent stories whos telling the truth?I dont think us tims ever get the truth out of our clubs and I doubt we ever will unless an honest board comes to power(if theres such a thing). Neway Jackie has my best wishes thanks for 10 years of service!who do you think is telling the truth?

 

i dunno what to think. i want to believe Jackie, but its his word against the board. apparently his father said on the news "i hope you arent calling my son a liar" aimed at someone at celtic. not sure what to think as he doesnt seem the unloyal lieing type, but on the other hand have the whole board agreed to stick to a story that isnt the truth?

this could get much more complicated i reckon!

Come on, it would be wrong if a board told us every single thing that goes on. Although, I do agree this board are worse than others. They treat us like arseholes sometimes. If it was their fault for Jackie leaving they are hardly going to admit to it are they? Neither would anyone. It's this blame culture...
