Strange one. He's with the squad in Austria which makes me assume he'll be offered a new deal. This could be a daft question but will he not be allowed to play unless he does sign a new contract?

I'm not high on many of our youngsters (on the fringes/age suitable for the first team) right now tbh, I think Ronnie will be looking longterm rather than coming straight in and playing our u-21s for the sake of it. O'Connell, Twarzdik and a bit of Henderson would do for this season.

For the future, Nesbitt and Calvin Miller do sound exciting.

I don't disagree with you about giving some of the younger lads a run out pre -season , the only problem I see is that time is short and Ronnie has to ensure the players he wants for the qualifiers get first preference for game time .

Does anyone have a list of the players Celtic took to Austria? I'd be interested to see which youth players make an instant impression on Deila.

There is never a better time to break into a team than when a new manager comes in:

    O'Neil - Petrov
    Strachan - McManus
    Mowbray - Josh Thompson...
    Lennon - Forrest

It's a level playing field right now. Who will make the cut?

Based on pictures, I've not noticed Marcus Fraser or Calvin Miller. Which is a bit surprising. Miller made his debut last January and is older than the wonderkid at Stromgodset.

he wasn't even a sure starter for our u17's this season and rarely featured for the u20's so i'd doubt that he'll be doing too much training with the first team this season. He'll be more focused on breaking into the u20 team. Deila has already stated that at this point in his career the lad from stromgodset wouldn't get a game for us so it seems that he is an advocate of youth but understands that young players need to be very good to get into a side like celtic.

He said himself that he plays young players when they're ready. He only asks for 100% commitment and to take responsibility for your mistakes and not to make excuses.

The Australian bhoy, McGregor (If he's back), Fisher, Atajic, Watt, Fridj, and especially Henderson are the only ones I think are ready for the first team rotation/ chance to play currently.

Marcus Fraser not in Austria? He's been fit for some time so that doesn't bode well for him.

would like to see a few youngsters getting a game, thought a couple of them fitted into the first team well at the end of last season, just hope he doesn't over do it and play an almost full team of youngsters, but I am sure he won't, Ronny seems to know what he is doing

I've noticed that aiden nesbitt has been training with the first team recently, he looks about 12 but he's performed really well with the youth scotland squads as well, I can see him getting the odd appearance this season.

I think Deila has spoken about playing youthful footballers . It has been spoken about the youths he played in Norway . The standard is a lot lower in Norway , hence he played plenty young players . I think Deila will find it difficult to play the youths in Scotland . Lennon was faulted by many posters , but even this season when they are older they are not getting into the match squad , apart from Mc Gregor .

One of the first stamps he has put on the team is making a first team player out of McGregor I would like to see one or two others making that kind of leap this season. I would get rid of Zaluska and make young Leo Fasan the no2 and use him in all cup games and the odd league game. Big season for Henderson too.

We cant expect to see a team full of three or four youngsters, If Delia can make a first team player out of McGregor this season then its a step in the right direction and hopefully he can give enough chances to Henderson for him to push on in the next year or two.

If they are good enough I believe Delia will give them a chance.

I'd love to see that happening. Played in the same team as him for a few years and he lives across the road from me!
