The thing is, the league is not in the bag. He could bottle it. After a morale killer like last night, and the looming realization that Deila is off sooner or later, everything might go downhill.

Sacking him just now at least shows a bit of intent from the board, it's the only thing they can do at this stage to make up for yesterday's embarrassment a little.

It is inevitable so why prolong it? It doesn't matter who's caretaker for the last 5 games as we have *-all to play for anyway.

We are not giving away a 9 point swing in 5 games no matter who is in charge. Aberdeen probably won't even muster another 9 points. It's done.

I don't think he will be sacked today, despite wanting it to happen. I think the board will take their time evaluating replacement candidates before they release Ronny.

If they haven't been doing that since December at the very latest then that is just another failure of theirs to add to the list.

By evaluating you mean sounding out who they can get on the cheapest contract? :smiley-laughing002:

Seems a good guy and I'd love to have seen him turn things around here but it doesn't look like that will happen. He'd probably be a good life coach but he's not a football manager.

This. There have been enough signs during our Euro campaign to give a clue as to this possible scenario.

Would you, in a figure of speech, bet your house on this? I wouldn't. Better be safe, than without a CL qualifiers spot. Get RD out now, so we avoid any more of his ˝tactical displays˝.

People sugesting he shouldn't be sacked now are ignoring the major risk in keeping him, that is having a team full of individuals already struggling for motivation playing under a manager who is a cast-iron certainty not to be here next season.

Ever been in a situation where you're working in a job that won't exist soon? It's a motivation killer even with the best of intentions.

The correct thing to do is get rid of Deila, get in a 'caretaker' and give the players absolutely no indication of whether the caretaker will be a perfmanent feature or not.

As usual though, we'll take the passive, no action way out. As the board have done for the majority of Deila's time here if we're being honest.

It has to be announced today that he is leaving either today or at the end of the season....and if we don't get a proper manager with real pedigree I really worry where our club is going to end up. Even with Sevco in the top league the fans will stop turning up. DD and Lawell, the day you have been waiting for is here, Sevco are here now pull your fingers out and invest in quality and let's demolish them next season.

Well, in recent times we've sacked Barnes and Mowbray after disastrous results, so there's scope there to believe the board will get rid if tthey think it inevitable.

If I'm unprofessional and don't value my job then yeah, probably. If I don't give a * about winning my league winning bonus either.

Let's be honest here, we're not going to sack Deila today and have a suitable man, be he a caretaker or not, in within a few days.

If he did go it would be someone already on our books taking over until the end of the season, and the players would know fine well that he's not the man for the job anyway.
