Cole was a bit tongue in cheek.
Very true he was on trial for a while. But it was also between windows and the option to add another striker when normally wouldnt be able to, think we all would have.

He certainly isnt completely blameless for every signing. Im sure a few of them he has called wrong. Berget he worked with before, very well may have been his call (and a loan also suited the board).

The bulk of our transfers have happened in one of three ways(but not exclusively),
Domestic signings (no scouting needed and easy options), dudu dasan (would love to know the original connection to him) and the man city link which for me goes a lot deeper than some fans want to think about.

I mind at the time when we 'supposed' to be interested in Finnbogasson, john park came out with the he's not value for money patter or so Lawwell said, there was also lennon having a serious interest in Vardy when we could have snapped him up for peanuts and Charlie Austin again the 2 million asking price was vetoed

    O'Halloran is average. And he isn't young, he's 25.

I know man, always some exceptions to the 'rule' of course, but id be willing to assume my other post about him being a free option in between transfer windows helped that purchase.

I know a few will agree with my idea of how signings work and some will disagree (fair play), but even so we all know the idea is to predominantly bug young, cheap and sell high.

We just need to break that mould a bit more and with a better calibre than Cole.

I agree with what you said tbh. Just having Cole as an example seems a bit off, that's it. Could've used like Ciftci instead :smiley-laughing002:

I'm assuming he's implying we're basically a feeder club without the official title. And he may well be right,

I initially thought ckr, but thought a bit harsh. Forgot ciftci at that moment, blame me!? Ha.

Yeah, the agent for many players we signed, specially during lennons time.

Man city link, generally the connection between Peter and mark.
Its (OK rumoured) to be that ronny deila was linked to us after his man city coaching trip(also went to dortmund), where he was suggested as a assistant to lennon after mjalby left.
When lennon left, Keane was offered the job (see his interview/book?) with some non negotiable points, reading between the lines its an assistant (deila) being forced on him, and the general signing policy.
Then deila gets 'promoted' to manager.

So its not just the 'luxury' or a good loan like guidetti or Roberts, but we are signing players like boyata for a cheap option and getting our managers via that link. OK its not likely that the Arabs at city or pellegrini are best buds with lawwell and Co, but the father son link is being utilised too much, and not for the benefit of the club to get early options of loans like Roberts, but generally for cheap cost cutting exercises.

Could also connect the dots with Bitton, the agent and his trial at man city.

Not gonna suggest anything illegal or nudge nudge, Wink wink going on. Just that we use that link far too much and at the detriment to our own club development.
Wanyama as well? Was on his company site the other day, not all are still with him, but he seems to focus on Israeli and a bit of Belgium.

The "transfer policy" as * up as it is doesn't excuse the brutal football ronny has us playing the defence is atrocious the attacking is relying on Griffiths to make something out of nothing.we have 5midfielders passing side to side keeping the ball and he sets the team up in this retarded way every * time we play

During those tough times was celtic the richest club in the country by a mile, budget to blow everything out the water? Nope. Didn't think so.
