I think Moyes will need to lose his job 2 or 3 more times before he would come to celtic with our wage and spending limit.
He will still be in good demand down south and don't think it will be long before he is back in a job down there...maybe even replacing lennon.:fear:

    These players?

McGeady, Maloney, Kennedy, Marshall, Wallace, Miller, Jamie Smith, Creaney...

Bar McGeady (who never had unequivocal backing from the Celtic fans and Maloney (on the injury bench more than James Forrest), not one of this players will be spoken about as a class player during the MON era.

I'd be surprised if ANY Celtic manager never had a crop of youngsters in and around the squad at any given point.

Let's not try and revise history here, MON was not known for bringing through Scottish youngsters no matter how much its stated or how many lists get produced..

I think it's a fairly decent list considering we didn't have Lennoxtown. Have any Celtic managers brought through more players from the development squad in recent years?

Of course he wasn't, he was known for Henrik and the likes but lets not try and revise history here either Roys Keane, that list includes two player of the year awards won with us, two YPOTY awards won with us, a player whose went on to be Scotland number 1, a guy who won a move to Man United and a guy who's career was tragically cut short when he was pulled into the Scotland team as a young guy.

Can you think of ANY Celtic manager, who has done that lately?

Was it the "Bar McGeady" part that gave it away Dev?

Try it with Lenny or Gordon Strachan, any players that had the same type of success?

I can only compare it to what others have done. The only manager who I would say had a better record with youth players was Lennon, but if the question is strictly about who has brought through the most/highest quality from our own development squad then I think it would probably be O'Neill, which does surprise me because he eared a reputation as a guy that placed a lot of faith in his experienced players.

I'm not sure I said they were tremendous at bringing through youngsters either - did I?

    So you're comment of:

Meant some other recent Celtic managers, who managed us over a 4 year period recently?

Ah - you're saying McGeady had unequivocal support from our fans? Funny I remember him being fairly divisive amongst our support.

I'm sure you know best Dev, conjuring up the images of a dashing McGeady, the darling of our support, leading a daring charge of amazing youngsters delivered by MON.

Sounds brilliant your version of Celtic in those days. An alternate version to reality, but an enticing one nonetheless.

Nah, I just know nobody has unequivocal support from us. I can remember sitting in Celtic Park with some old tadger behind me moaning about how Henrik had 'lost it'.

I'm still waiting on you proving me somehow wrong that Martin O'Neill didn't hand the debuts and bring into the first team players that were good enough to become Scotland's number one or a couple of Players of the Year and this parade of managers who have done so since.

I think Ronny will deliver this if he's given the time. I remember last year he talked about the need for a smaller squad - I realize it takes time but I'll be disappointed if he doesn't deliver on that if he's still here in two years.
