We bought Armstrong and GMS. I do get your point though. Our biggest problem is that we havn't had a prolonged period of stability with CL money. Mowabary was a disaster in everyway, Lennon took a while to get us back into the CL and now Ronny hasn't managed it either. I don't blame Ronny or Lennon but these missing years I think negate the large fee's we have recieved, starting with McGeady. We need a consistent run in the CL (5/6 years) whilst producing and selling £10m+ players to really rise above the restraints of Scottish football. We seem to have the player recruitment area pretty well nailed, VVD, Bitton, Johanson and I believe Armstrong can all be £10m+ players. A few years in the CL and I believe our team will really step it up another level.

The long term plan is solid. I know the arguement is speculate to accumulate but we need to be sensible about it. Look how long it took Bitton to show his worth.

I don't think we'll get anywhere near £14m/£15m if we decide to sell them, I take them as the next 'core' kinda players, the ones who will stay to help build around the long term.

Like Broony, Samaras, Stokes, Mulgrew, Lustig, Matthews etc. it's important to keep the core of your squad.

From Wanyama's money we invested it in Bitton and Van Dijk, we wasted a lot of it but I can easily see those two leaving for a combined fee of £20m odd. We need to keep raising the level of the squad and our reputation for developing players. That's when we'll get more money.

And of course, Champions League is essential. We want to get to the level that we can splurge £5m on an up and coming youngster and punt him for £20m.

I can see Armstrong going for a lot after a few years in the CL. Guy's a talent. McArthur went for £12m (* knows how)

Its also important that the players we sell do well when they leave, so the fact Ledley, Forster and Wanyama are doing so well only bodes well for the prices we can charge in the future.

I can't see it, McArthur was £8m and had the advantage of being known as a hardworking Premiership player. The fact he's * doesn't seem to bother them down there.

I know what you mean though, personally I see Armstrong going on to be the next Broony though.

100% agree with the last bit. Add Ki in there as well.

Ronny's on vacation in Marbella, Spain. That also happens to be where the Norwegian national team's training camp is before the Croatia game - he was interviewed by a Norwegian paper while watching the team train.

Maybe he's scouting but I can't think of any obvious candidates for Celtic

Håvard Nordtveit maybe? Plays as defensive midfielder for Gladbach and centre half for the national team

Can't see us taking anyone off Gladbach unless they think he's * :54: You never know, there might be a few young gems that have been called up.

Besides Nordtveit, these are the players I reckon Deil might check out (if he does):

Ørjan Håskjold Nyland gk, Vegar Eggen Hedenstad lb/lwb, Even Hovland cb, Vegard Forren cb, Omar Elabdellaoui rb/rwb/rm, Markus Henriksen cm, Anders Konradsen (former Deila diciple at Strømsgodset) cm, Per Ciljan Skjelbred cm, Martin Ødegaard mvp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Bold being most likely.

edit: I'll upgrade Forren (Southamton fiasco if you remember?) to bold, cause he's lost weight.

Skjelbred and Henriksen would be outstanding, I've been wanting us to sign either for years no, since before Skjelbred went to Germany. Dont think we'd be able to afford Henriksen and not sure Per would leave the Bundesliga

    Nordtveit and/or Skjelbred. :35:

How's Henriksen doing at AZ? I haven't been massively impressed by him when I've seen him playing for Norway. I know he was very highly rated a few years ago.

Ellabdellaoui would suit us, if he likes to get forward from fullback. We could do worse than Forren at centre-half as well - surely has to be a priority with Denayer and Van Dijk off in the Summer.

Forren is not bad, but definitely a step down from Van Dijk and Denayer :54:

His contract runs out next year and he hasn't played all that much this year. We might just have a shot, depending on if Gladbach thinks he has a future there or not. Would be a fantastic signing for us.

I'd take his free kick abilities all day long. There's actually a chance of him scoring.

Scored 6 in 16 appearances this season. Not playing as much as he could be, only thing is midfield is our strongest area of the team so he'd maybe struggle to get games here too.

He's got 9 career goals. Can't imagine he's Naka like.

Anyone will be as we can't afford players that high quality and it's getting harder to come across cheaper gems that no one has taken a risk on yet like Virgl & Wanyama for example.
