I have it on good authority Roy's great grandfather was a commander in the Cork IRA brigade.

Bringing in brian mcclair could be a shrewd move when keane gets the job..

Good pedigree working with the united academy which fits our model of sussing young players and developing them, a.striking coach we've all been crying out for and always helps with the added bonus of being a celtic man and ex player..

Trying to look for the positives in this move..

I would be disappointed, i want us to move away from ex players/celtic fans as managers.

I want to see promising young ambitious managers from Europe, managers who are managing teams that are currently punching above their weight in good leagues, the likes of the Bundesliga being a perfect example, going after the managers of the likes of Mainz who came 7th.

We can attract them to Scotland but we aren't going after them.

Would be a bit dissapointed. He's a * manager and from what I've heard of him he's a * as well. We'd probably find it harder to attract players because no one would want to work with him.

I think players would like the idea of working under one of the best midfielder's to ever play in Britain to be honest. Despite his persona.

Hope so. But I can just see him forcing players out or alienating players.

But it could all turn out amazingly well and if we're going to risk it on someone like keane now is the best time. :50:

I have some reservations as well. He has had a patchy managerial career to date, but I reckon he has the ambition and drive to learn from his experience. This job will make or break him as a manager.

Keane aside, I'm a bit fed up of the constant negative reaction from some Celtic fans online especially, regarding Keane's potential appointment but also regarding Lennon in the last while before he decided to leave.

Anyway I agree with you actually, that some have reservations but I will also point to the fact that some people are overly negative miserable whingers whose opinions will be written off.

I reckon even if Keane was to take the job and got Celtic to the CL every season during his time here and did reasonably well in it along with winning the league and some Cups, you'd still have some negative whingers, just like those who were moaning about Lennon when he did a good job by enlarge.

Keane wont care about the whingers if he takes the job, just like Lennon didn't either.

Steve Clarke is far from being a "too quiet" and "too nice" to be a manager.. While that might be his appearance in Interviews and the likes, he also has a nasty streak in him.

It would be complete idiocy to make him manager. I would seriously think about giving football a miss until he has gone. He is a total * and not fit to represent a club like Celtic.

I agree. I dont like the backwards pandering to elements who want a tribal leader who ticks the right ethnic boxes. That sort of * is keeping us mired in the past IMO. Keane is only being considered because of his background. Its pathetic really. Any other industry and we would be under investigation for bias in our managerial appointments and breaking fair employment practices. The sad thing is the club has limited itself to ex-players and/or Irish managers in about three quarters or more of our appointments and its hit and miss when biased criteria like that are used. Its just not rational and modern IMO and has led to many bad appointments as well as some good ones. We should always be looking for the best, not old school tie type appointments or we will end up with a Brady, Macari, Mogga, Hay etc level managers. We may not be a bigoted club like Sevco but this nepotism is backwards and wrong and does not deserve to succeed.

Appears to be a stench of sectarianism in that comment. Keane is the best realistic available candidate for the manager job. It's a bit weird that because he is Irish that some weirdos would question the potential appointment of Keane on a Celtic supporters website.

That aside, Celtic play most of their football in a backwater league, until that changes some posters around here need to get their heads out of their *.

I think he is using Celtic as a springboard to re-ignite his flagging career.

League is a given, so if he wins one or both cups and does average in Europe, he will get praise.
The one good side to his appointment for me, would be the media attention, which would increase with him being in charge.

That would be the case with any manager we appoint right now, doesn't matter who he is or where he is from.

He has a bit more experience as a manager at the top level than Jackie Mac.

Other than that he's also a bigger name and a bigger personality that might make the difference in getting potential signings over the line.

Speak for yourself. A lot of Celtic fans are very happy about Keane's potential appointment. You speak for yourself not everyone else, get that clear.

We ring up a player we want to potentially sign..... the player is told Jackie McNamara wants to speak to them, or Roy Keane wants to speak to them about signing for Celtic.

Which name do you think players would be more attracted by?
