It's no secret that I developed a bit of a downer on NL over the last month or so due to his moral u-turn as it relates to Griffiths-Gate, so maybe I'm jaded here...

It just strikes me as a really * way to leave the club. Out of the blue and with no succesion management. Surely he could have managed this a bit better?

Or am I just being a grumpy *?

I would like to think he told the club weeks or months ago and we are well into the manager hunt.
But if its like the media are making out and it only happened this week and we are only just started looking ill be a little * at lennon.
He could have said during the season look I'm going to move on and try something new next season i don't think anyone would have held it against the guy.
Trying to find a new manager and then sign new player's while playing friendly's and the start of the CL not that far away could leave us in a right mess.

Apparently the board knew he was leaving long before he did. I'm sure they knew when Joham announced he was leaving but battled on to see us lift the trophy first.

IMO their is no right way to leave the club, it was always going to be sad.

You can't blame him been through so much. He can leave any way he wants after what he had to endure.

Quite honestly don't think we have anything to be * off about. He came, he did his job well, he left. Between his contributions as a player and a manager, he'll be remembered fondly as one of our greats years from now when the dust has settled.

No it isn't Neil Lennons job to ensure there is a successor before he leaves. He left and gave us plenty of time to mull over a possible successor. That is good enough for me.

I would be very surprised if the board never knew of his decision to leave at the end of the season weeks, or even months, in advance.

NL and the board have known about this for about 6 weeks now. The timing was all around the season ticket renewal and the new appointment will be made in the next couple of weeks. The new guy will need to rid the club of the duds and freshen up the dressing room. No big money will be spent though.

If he was 100% on going, I think I'd have preferred he announced it before the final few games of the season. At least this way fans would get the chance to say cheerio on the final day.

I'm not convinced that the Board knew in advance as their reactive statements were so slow.

We can accuse the powers-that-be of many things, but one thing that they are * hot at is spin. The statements that came out (and the way they came out) made it look as if they were caught on the hop.

Of course, a conspiracy theorist could argue it was a clever double-bluff...

Sorry fella, I disagree completely. There was no need (at this time) for him to do a moonlight-flit. The fans and club that supported him deserved a wee bit better!

Big Johan came out in the papers and was quoted as saying the Board knew months ago Lennon was leaving, but they also knew 2 years in advance Henrik was leaving, seems this is the norm, leave everything to the last possible minute then scramble around looking to see whats left in the bargain bin

Never saw that. If that's the case, then it's very poor form from the club!

was on the news now celtic site, something about on the budget available, Lennon had told the board around the same time big johan did that he was off, and Johan hasnt ruled out teaming up the lenny at his next gig if he gets the phone call

After the way Lennon was treated , by the scum supporting the Ibrox mob , by the media and a small number of our fans who thought he got what he deserved . To crown it all the board seemed to be unwilling to give him any kind of a decent budget despite his successes and efforts creating the best financial position for a very long time .
Now we find some grumbling about the timing and his method of leaving . I think questions directed at Dermot Desmond who takes great pride that his teeth are the softest part of him
DD could probably give a clear picture why he are looking for a manager

It was triggered by fear of failure in the qualifiers , you only have to look at last years to see the stress it cauzed, it was a must do for us and lenny nothin else would be even close , the money is too great , so you can feel the pressure and see the reason why its same again please and if you need to strengthen then you can sell whoever , try shifting the duds on, any mention of lenny player buys that cost us big and were crap puts him on the back foot .
so you can understand why he would make that call , he would bare the brunt of our failure to qualify under a strict budget policy and with even greater restrictions , sammy being let go , a wage saved cuts to playing staff ,a player lenny trusted in cl .
I would see this as not backing me where as the board see it as staying in control of finances , it started this way for lennon but there must come a time when you say ,4 years down the line has it got any better , will it get better , do they not trust me , this is just my take on it and the board will have known he was in that frame of mind but didnt want it to come out before the season ended , this was probably lenny standing up to them and saying no more you cant expect anyone to work under those constraints while still expecting to have the same results in cl .
