Well... I cant say i know them enough... Shakhtar was our arch rivals in USSR times, but there are no USSR anymore =) Now they have their own country and their own league. But i'll try to share what i know...

They are rich, first of all. Have you heared about Lucarelli, guy from Livorno FC? Well they bought him for ~10 mln euro and price was not the problem for Shakhtar's owners.
The club is pretty strong but i wouldn't say thay play in the same maner then Spartak. Their coach, romanian Mirca Lucescu likes athletic football more. But real trouble of Shakhtar is there are not so much skilled teams in Ukraine. Shakhtar, Dynamo, maybe Dnipro - that's it. So during the season Shakhtar plays about 6-8 hard games in native league, they haven't got enough practice.

What should Celtic do to win? Be such fast as you were beating Spartak. Then Shakhtar woulnd't be a problem to you.

    Gee... Thanks folks =)
We'll try to beat them with your support =)

BTW, is that truth you scotch always sing "Wallace" (in the name of William Wallace) when playing vs. England?
I mean we are about to yell the same during the moscow game if you really are...=)

    P.S.: Pardon my terrible english

For those of you Celtic lads, keeping an eye out for random Spartak news, a team of Spartak fans - ViNK VV - is playing against an English side in the Wembley area today. I'll post the result tomorrow.

The said side has already come up against English oppo - ChChFCOBTC - on Saturday, in Oxford. The match was a hotly contested affair, finishing 3-2 to the English hosts. A couple of photos:

When i first seen this thread I thought it was us arguing with the russians haha. But, I've read through the topic and ive got to say the Spartak fans are top notch, they are really a credit to their club. Good luck in the UEFA cup, we will be cheering you on:)

I will check out to see how you are doing every week, think am going to buy a Spartak top now:50:

I can see Spartak-Celtic becoming into a bonding club like Celtic-Villareal. Villareal fans come up every year to have a 5-aside game with other Celtic fans and watch a game. Would be great if the relationship between Spartak and Celtic become strong :50:

Also, wouldn't mind having Pavluchenko at Parkhead:celt_2:

Where does the Celtic-Villareal link come from?

Re: Spartak-Celtic fans' "relationship", it's quite a contrast when you compare the post-1st leg reaction to the post-2nd leg reaction. :)

Celtic played Villareal in the Ufea Cup 1/4 final a few years back, the fans then struck up a friendship and Villareal created a Celtic Supporters Club .

    I think

If you are doubting our relationship with you because we only beat you then that is rather ridiculous. We made a strong relationship with Villareal even though we lost heavily to them in the quarter finals in Spain. The reason our reaction is different from the first leg is because the tie wasnt over and we seen you as opponents rather than what we see you now:50:

We are wishing you all the best and hope you to go onto win the league and win the UEFA cup:celt_2: Hail Hail!

Nah, I wasn't implying that. I do think that whatever perceptions Celtic fans might've had about the Russian side after the first leg, were dispelled by the second match - and would've been irrelevant of the result - for Spartak performed bravely and admirably and the few hundred Spartak souls who made the trip gave a good account of themselves. For Celtic's part - club and fans alike, the atmosphere that was created at Celtic Park was excellent and the locals were very welcoming off the pitch.

We had a high idiot count among us Celtic fans posting around the first leg time. I dont know what happened but I was embarrised by our fans posts. I was much happier with our posts later which showed the real attitude of people here (i.e friendly).

To be fair, the idiot count among the Spartak fans after that first leg wasn't exactly low either. :)

Anyway, let us stop this frankly sickening exchange in pleasantries.:)

Although I have a good respect for the Spartak players and fans, I want my country to win tomorrow!

    Cmon England! (Sorry :p)

Spartak fans (under the official guise of "Russian Supporters' Team") won 5-2 against their English counterparts last night. I believe there was/is a piece on the BBC news about the said event. :)
