I am not the 1st on TC to have raised 'go home you huns' as likely to be under scrutiny and end up on any banned list. What marks this out as a problem word is that people mean different things when they say hun. It doesnt just mean blue nose (which would be fine) cause Hearts and others get it too. So, what does it really mean? I get the feeling that some peoples use of it borders on sectarian but others its just a bit of fun. I personally have taken it to mean the really horrible hard line bigots (who I suppose do deserve abuse) and it often is used in a more light hearted way to mean all Rangers fans. players, ex-players (bigoted or not). I dont think those uses are a problem.

The real problem is that it is also used as a term of abuse and hate by some of the kestrel/devil dug brigade for all those whose religion/political views is not the same as your own. Abusing/taunting those who are different cultural backgrounds, upbringings and values easily falls under the umbrella of sectarianism. If there is a real crackdown, that song will likely be on the banned list. Hun, OB and * will be considered equivelent tribal sectarian abuse terms. Just being a realist.

Hun *! Blue Nose *!..........Not much difference if your on the receiving end. Just playing Devil's Advocate.

It's how any of these terms above are used, in the way i just showed either of these could be taken to have sectarian connotations if you are looking for them. The politically correct brigade can and will find fault with just about anything. It has gone crazy. My opinion.

Let's just concentrate on the fitbaw, and leave the parochial gutter press to write their smalll-minded ramblings. I personally don't care what these people write. Fitbaw journalists in general, are idiots.

have u seen a handsome hun
leckie is a * with double standards.

he bleats on about celtic fans being stuck in the past with regards to our irish links.

he criticises the chants and songs we used to sing for being bigoted and sectarian. ( an issue which celtic fans have addressed and been given no credit from this cretin )

then when euro 96 came round the bile and bigoted filth that came spewing from his column with regards to the english/scottish thing was incredible. he was inciting scottish people to watch braveheart, paint saltires on their faces, head for carlisle and thump an englishman.
and every time a scotland game comes around his patriotic scottishness and hatred of all that is south of carlisle rears its ugly head.

the fact that he cant see the similarities between his rants against an oppressor from hundreds of years ago and the celtic fans rants against the oppression our ancestors endured, says much about this guys inability to look at all things to do with celtic without his blue tinted spectacles.

the guy should be ignored, for me he has no credibility.
while he continually addresses tha nation with his over the top scottish patriotism and his anti english campaign.

dictionary definition.... bill leckie sports journalist= total *.

the sad fact about leckie is that his articles that have nothing to do with football, can actually be quite entertaining and insightful and in many ways worth a read, his charity marathon running is to be commended and this is what makes his inability to give us a fair shake in his sports column all the more galling. as his day to day brand of journalism isnt all that bad.

pity when saturday comes around his apron and his sash hinder the keys on his typewriter.
