    NEED A NEW LEFT BACK!

As Lee Naylor's head appears to have dropped and he's no been a good player since last season. Don't know if it's fatigue etc but we sure to * need a LB before this transfer windae gets panned in!

Anybody got any ideas who we could get that would be a good aquisition? And for the people who say Doumbe is the answer then......naw, just naw :56:

Problem position for many clubs. There just arent many natural left footed guys who can defend very well and also fly down the wing. Any well known player who fits that mould would cost millions. Our main markets are anyone but the EPL. I used to rate McNaughton when he was at the Dons although he is not left footed which I think is important in an attack minded team like us. As a short term fix there is always Everton's Gary Naismith who is pretty good and attacks well. What about Harte? Its so long ago, I cant remember if he is as bad at defending as I think he is. Naismith is probably a safer bet but both are basically rejects from clubs that are smaller than us. I think abroad is the best bet if we are looking for real quality long term. Its a real pity the youth policy has not unearthed a top young left back.

Wilson to LB and slot doube in at right... but in actual fact most games we play in the SPL we dont need 4 defenders...

wilson can play better at left back in my opinion looks more comfy out there but naylor was one of our best players last term i think he will come good again.

What about Wayne Bridge from Chelsea?

May cost a bit but I think he'd do nicely at LB & he may be surplus to requirements now that they have signed Balletti!

    What do you lot think???

I don't think we need a LB that badly, Naylor's going through a form slump that's all there is to it. Now if it does last past September it will be a problem, but for now I'd give him a few more chances.

Bridge played better than A.Cole last year, so I doubt Chelsea would be keen to sell him, never know though, maybe a 6 month loan deal

have u seen a handsome hun
naylor has the look of a guy who isnae sleeping well, never mind playing well, assuming all is well in his private life, he has nothing to fear, all players go through form slumps. great players play through it and emerge from them even better players, its all down to naylor, how bad do you want it son...... playing at cellic park.... or visiting places like scunthorpe with yer new team.
i for one have no doubts the boy will come good. just needs a big game under his belt... who knows maybe it'll be wednesday.

Id say shift wilson over to Lb as that is where i thoguht he palyed best and put doumbe at rb.
Both of those posiotions suit them each as they have palyed there for the team and looked good.

I think Iain Harte would be a good signing for Celtic. I think he is on the verge of signing for Sunderland tho!!!

Jay McEveley! Ive always thought hes a Premiership player but hes playing in a poor team.CL football could tempt him but I tihnk he'd cost a good £3-4m.Doubt WGS is interested in him but I'd be delighted if he did sign him.

J McEveley has my vote! This guy strolled through his international debut, and looks to be a one of the best natural left backs i've seen in ages! He's just so cool headed! He was my MOTM on wednesday! I agree that it would cost Celtic at least £2.5mil, but as said by one manager last week, not many clubs wil pay 3-4mil for a defender. If I was WGS i'd get in contact with BD and get a deal sorted out! Jings... I'd even throw in Big Bobo!

I used to think Stephen Crainey was a really good flat back four left back who suffered because of the 3-5-2 system cause he is neither a centre back or a wing back. He once looked a cert to be a top player and was given a full cap but it all seems to have gone wrong for him. He was a really good defender and had a great long ball and was good in the air. Think his pace was suspect though. He is in the same category as a number of Celtic players who got bad breaks at the worst possible times but could have made it big if luck had been on their side.

Dont see how Wilson gets so much praise and Naylor who is just as bad gets all the abuse.

Dont know wether we need a new LB or that we just need to find sumhin to perk Naylor up and give him more confidence

Yeah, he played really well last year. He was some people's player of the year last season. Hopefully this is just an early dip in form and he will be back to his best soon.

Maybe Doumbe should get a couple of games just to give him a bit of a kick up the *.
