Think we usually do the option to take up a years in these clauses, did we not do this with commons contract he's on now? Sure we did..

Broony's new deal takes him upto 33 years old. I don't think it is club policy.

Yeah, but that's Broony! Rules don't apply to the man.

No, you're most likely correct. I was sure I'd read it somewhere but can't find the source, so was probably talking *.

I don't think it's policy either, has to be in the best of the interests of the club and putting year extensions on the likes of broony is not beneficial long term or financially in my opinion..

Edit:usually was the wrong word, granted..

I know that's Arsene Wengers policy, first time I've heard of it in relation to us though.

Kris is definitely a good option to have around the squad, definitely deserves a couple more years.

And from earlier today, Celtic manager Ronny Deila believes Kris Commons is "taking a risk" if he sticks rigidly to his demands over a new contract. Commons, 31, has been at Celtic since 2011 and is believed to want a two-year extension, rather than a one-year deal.
"Negotiation is to try and get an agreement and when you go into the media you have to be strict - this is normal procedure," said Deila.
Deila insists the midfielder had not been offered a one-year contract.

The guy more than earned his new contract last season.

His age is irrelevant, he's not exactly 'injury-prone' or blessed with great pace, so his age makes little difference to his game for me.

If he wants a 3 year contract then give him it. Our most naturally-gifted player by a country mile and our only real match-winner that can do something different.

Johansen is all about power and timing runs to get ahead of the forwards, Brown is the ball-winner and Bitton can anchor the middle pretty well, but Commons is our only attacking midfielder with touch, skill and a deadly finish.

Criminal if we let him go.

He won't feature as heavily under Deila as he did with Lennon but I'd not be against giving him a 2 year deal.

To be brutally honest, he isn't the kind of player I really like and I think for the most part he's been off par this season whenever he has played. However, in saying that, I'd be very wary of letting him go just now.

are you frickin kidding me commons has a good touch ? :97:

we have had some good times from kris im not going to deny the obvious

but he is getting slower and slower and getting caught on the ball more and more

his skill and technique ain't by a long long way good enough to mask the lack of agility strength movement pace and acceleration

he slows everything down we do and all of a sudden we have 11 men behind the ball

    past it at european level

Totally agree. Johansen has grabbed the jersey in that advanced role but what happens if he breaks his leg next game? Or goes off form?

If Kris wants to stay we absolutely must find some common ground (no pun intended.)

"Revelation" is not too strong a word. Hope we keep him.

He's only 31 as well. It's not like his legs could go any minute.

Poor show if that's another great servant whose contract we let run down.

What's the point giving him a new contract, on pretty decent wages I imagine, when he isn't a first 11 player ?

He's done us a great service in his time here, but it looks like his time is up.

Could always give him a bash up front if Scepovics' form doesnt pick up.

The guy has a brilliant touch and quick feet, if you can't see that you are looking at a different player from me.

Amazing that a guy with no touch, agility, strength or movement scored so many goals last season from a deeper position, guess he must have been wandering into the 6 yard box and claiming tap-ins all season eh?

    Serial hun-skelper as well.

    Get him signed up.

I'll agree that 31 is not that old BUT I think in the case of Commoms it is old. He isn't a "young" 31, his natural body type and natural fitness levels mean that he will age quicker than someone like Giggs for example.
