Homophobic? No. Discriminative? I don't know. It's not that calling your pal a bender or whatever makes you homophobic, it's just that it helps perpetuate the idea that being gay is something that you can take the * out of when it shouldn't be. I'd just don't see why I need to use words like that. I think it just reflects badly on the person using it. It's the kind of * that children come out with.

That's probably the grey area you're talking about. I know you probably don't mean anything by it but it's really that section of the population that really needs to eradicate it.

In the past, it was quite normal for people to use racial slurs in everyday speech, not necessarily meaning anything by it. Now, ordinary, decent people instinctively know that racial slurs will not be accepted in mainstream society. If someone uses a racial slur in the stands, more often than not, people will tell them they're out of line. It's only because of this shift in attitude that we've taken significant steps in eradicating racism from the game. The same thing has to happen with homophobia.

I'll take the * out of my mates for being * at driving. That's not discriminatory. You know exactly what's meant by discriminatory, so don't be disingenuous.

Discriminatory behaviour of Bayern supporters (Article 14 UEFA Disciplinary Regulations) and the displaying of an illicit banner (Article 16(2e) DR).


The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has decided:

• To order the partial closure of the Fußball Arena München. In particular, the closure of sector 124 for Bayern's next UEFA competition home match, namely their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester United FC on 9 April.


• To fine the German club €10,000 for the displaying of an illicit banner.

 

Quite a harsh punishment, shutting a part of their stadium down.

 

that's not the südkurve section is it . if it is then that's pathetic, from uefa had nothing to do with the südkurve.

 

@ that banner. Bayern supporters are not really known for being homophobic, racist etc. just like us, but on our very own message board we have a few homophobes/celtic supporters (seen it in a few threads) so what does that say? Not a * thing imo.

I think the sad thing is that there are people out there who see homosexuals as the last people you're allowed to pick on at the football, and we've to believe that it's all in good jest, as they will sometimes call a mate a bender for a laugh. Abuse is abuse, hate is hate, even if it is put across in a so called humorous fashion.

Though I do have to wonder how many people on here can hand on heart say they never joined in with the Ian Durrant song.

So, a gay banner is displayed against a player and FIFA are going to punish Bayern yet on Scottish national television a hertz fan attacks our manager and they do * all just like the sfa.
