i love Johansen's work rate and you can see he's decent with the ball, will only get better in that aspect.

I like Brown, but I'd agree with this. Very much a molded Scottish footballer.

I like Biton really because he looks so comfortable on the ball.

both johansen and biton are better or at least as good defensively as kayal. kayal loves a tackle but his defensive positioining isnt always great. biton's is as you can see by how often he picks off passes and johansen's defensive work rate is equal to kayals

Think it's getting to the time where Brown should be getting moved out of the team. Don't get me wrong, I like him and he's a good player...but if we want to play more attractive football, keep possession etc then we need to have Johansen and Biton in the middle. And, instead of Brown completing the three, a playmaker in front of them.

What technical attributes does he lack?

Eh? If we were playing the FM game, if you must, and giving him marks out of 20, he'd be no higher than 12/13 in all technical fields. Crossing, dribbling, shooting, passing, etc.

Is Broony the new scapegoat then?

People are suffering withdrawal symptoms with no Sammy in the team. :smiley-laughing002:

After watching them play a couple of games you think the current and future team should revolve around this midfield !!!!

Bitons has had 2 good games and a chance in the team and johansen looks good but gives possession away easily. Was giving everything away against aberdeen in the cup

Brown is the captain adds so much off field and on field and has the bite to get in amongst players. He helps out the defence and breaks up opponents play. He has been part of team keeping the clean sheets might i add

So for example you wouldn't see him makings passes like this one below to Hooper?

    [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N-O-EPmMQUE[/ame]

Or show 'technical' skills as below?

    [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kSLjUmaHjM4[/ame]

Or any sort of shooting ability?

Mate, I don't want to have a go at Brown (and Sean, where are you pulling Scapegoat from?). He's a very capable footballer, if in my opinion, limited.

And we could all throw up videos of player's skills, even the likes of Bangura. They're pros for a reason.

Don't take it a personal attack on you. It's just the Broony bashing has been growing arms and legs recently.

I think Virgil , Biton Johanson and Griffith already look to be first class signings . I think
there is no reason why Pukki and Balde won't become great players in the long run . I think we are not far away from having a good team .

I think Brown is pretty OK technically. He's nothing special but he has enough in his locker. What no one has mentioned is that he is IMO one of the most intelligent players in Europe. It's true he works hard and bites into tackles; but no more than Kayal: that's not the main reason he drives our team forward. It's his intelligence.

Take that last ditch tackle by Kayal against Ajax. It was a cracker and he was rightly praised for it; yet I've lost count of how many times Brown has saved us from these kind of breakaways in Europe. It just doesn't look as spectacular because he has read it in advance, got in position early and snuffed it out with no fuss and no spectacular slide tackles.

He's also capable of being one if the dumbest footballers in Europe on occasion e.g. Barça. Thankfully that is rarer.

    He's vital.

Just for the record, I really like Kayal, so this is not a dig at him.

He has it in his locker, it's not his main strength but his ability on the ball goes largely ignored and people throw about terms like he isn't 'technical', I don't think you can actually back up that opinion.

His technique is decent, not a weakness but not a strength. It's his decision making and positioning which can be bewildering at times. His work rate and leadership make up for it, but there are definitely questions which can be asked of him and I don't think that's scapegoating or bashing him.

Also, someone mentioned that he's used to playing with Wanyama or Kayal and that he's frazzled at playing with less defensive players, but Biton is an incredible defensive midfielder. No he won't give you the immediately gratifying clattering, but that's because he doesn't need to do it because he's already seen the play developing and just glides in to stop the play. That's not saying he can't be physical, I remember vividly one instance yesterday where he stopped a shot in an impressively physical manner on the edge of the penalty area.

Brown is kind of like your standard box to box player, I don't think he is an amazing passer of the ball. Dribbling is not really something he excels at and his general control of the ball is miles of someone like Ki ( I know I know :bbpd: ).

I think he's a useful player and has been amazing and is often our big game player, but if you're a mid-table or higher premier league team you'd be looking at guys like Johanson and Biton far before you would Brown, same with Ki and Wanyama.
