Yeh when the bald guy flew over Naylors leg and tripped on thin air at the edge of the box and STILL got the freekick, he was really helping us! Russians!

Not to mention the fact Naylor got a yellow for that and had to be careful the rest of the game

This bald guy just sucks, he wasn't helping any of the two teams, he's just a very bad referee.

2Tim, the offside should be defined by the moment of passing, not by the moment of strike. And in our case it is definetly not an offside.

tim, Pavluchenko would be offside if the player between him and Welliton hadn't his leg stretched that far) At least they stood on the same line. Ok, whatever, the bald guy sucks)

    Oh those Russians

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian media has accused German referee Herbert Fandel of favouring Scottish champions Celtic over Spartak Moscow in their Champions League qualifier and jeopardizing Moscow chances of reaching the tournament proper.
"Pendal from Fendal," blared Thursday's front-page headline in the mass-selling daily Sovietsky Sport, in a play on the Russian slang word for penalty.
"Fandel's mistakes could knock Spartak out of the Champions League. He disallowed a 'clear' goal by Spartak and also refused to penalise the Scots for a handball four times and award us penalties."
Celtic held Spartak to a 1-1 draw in Moscow in the first leg of their third qualifying round on Wednesday to give themselves an edge ahead of the return leg in Glasgow in two week's time.
"The game of handball by Herr Fandel," said the front-page headline in the other leading sports daily, Sport-Express.
"The referee set a unique record of missing four instances of handball and at the same time he did not count a clear goal by Roman Pavlyuchenko." Paul Hartley put Celtic ahead in the 21st minute before Pavlyuchenko levelled three minutes before halftime.
"I'm outraged. It was not an offside," Pavlyuchenko, Spartak's leading scorer this season who was playing with a broken right wrist, told reporters in reference to his ninth-minute effort that was ruled out for a marginal offside.
Spartak coach Stanislav Cherchesov, however, refused to blame Fandel for his team's shortcomings.
"The referee was of the highest quality, he has also officiated at many top international matches," the former Russia goalkeeper told a news conference.
"Besides, I don't want to judge those over whom I have no control."

tbh - we'd be complaining if we got that goal chopped off. fact is he was very slightly offside and thats just tough luck that he never got away with it.

maybe in russia it dosn't matter were your hands are when its a handball... but in europe and scotland for it to be a handball you have to be making yourself bigger, all counts of handball were with the players arms close in tight against there chests... stupid russians.

The offside was definitly a 50/50 decision, but it's not like the had a clear 100% valid goal chopped off

Celtic have had their fair share of hard luck stories in Europe i.e Juves last min pen away , Lyons last minute pen away and we have ahd to get on with it. Wether it was onside dosent matter the ref said it was offside and thats the end of that, it may not be fair but it happens

The Spartak goal scorer was a fraction offside, it depends what angle you seen it from, there was a camra angle that i seen on Setanta that you actually seen he was just offside, but it was very tight, well done to the lines man and ref on there decistion, the handballs where nothing though it was ball to hand not hand to ball, but if it happened to us we would be moaning as well so it gos both ways, at the end of the day we came out on top. HAIL HAIL!! :celt_2:

The ref had nothing to do with the offside goal anyway because it is the linesman who called that. As far as i saw it was about a foot offside but that is all that counts. He should have timed his run better because he could have been a couple of yards behind the defender and still stuck it away.

The Moscow goal also could have been ruled offside as he looked to be beyond our last man.

I didn't at the time think any of the handballs were blatant. Most were balls hammered from short range into the Celtic players' bodies.
