Say what you will but he'll definitely be one of the best players in the Championship over the next few years.

I think he would have stayed but unfortunately not signing the deal forced the clubs hand to some extent and they moved on by bringing in Johansen, after that any decent bid for Ledley in January was always going to be accepted.

You can look at it like this, there was an offer on the table, he had time to sign it and he was waiting for a better deal to come in, and it back fired when no big team came in for him and Celtic thought he would leave for nothing in the summer and accepted the Palace bid and Joe was off.

If he really wanted to stay as he is making out then he would have signed the deal, but he was holding out for a much better offer but he is now at Palace.

A think it's clear as day he wanted a move. Which a don't have a problem way. But just come out and * admit it and don't lie to us.

To me this is what happened:50:

The rumours are that he is on near enough the same as he was on here mate. Crystal Palace seemingly have a wage structure in place that is quite similar to ours. Chamakh probably being the exception I would imagine. However, he will be on more at Palace than what we offered him this time around, I've no doubt about that to be honest. Whether it will be more than what his original deal was, I don't think there will be too much difference to be honest.

I just can't see why he would say what he has unless it is indeed true. I can't imagine his words will endear him to the Palace fans, so he really has nothing to gain from it. If we did offer him a lesser wage offer, then I can fully understand why he would have wanted away. What footballer is happy to take a pay cut when they are entering their "peak years" so to speak. I think his ideal scenario was him getting the same wage as he was on, and staying with us. He had made it clear that he and his family were happy here.

I liked Joe. He was a reliable player. I cant remember having a noticeably bad game for us. To be honest I cant believe we've signed players like Boerigter and we're letting a proven performer like Joe leave at the same time. Granted £2m quid wisnae a bad deal for a guy who was swithering on a new contract anyway. We'll need to see if Johansen has the consistency to match what Joe did for us.

Ledley is full of nonsense. He was dragging his feet. All the rumours about him being offered less appear to have been nonsense too....afterall, he was about to sign..! He was an average player on a top wage...his match stats show that.

If he was offered less money then he should have said that in his interview ...

' i really wanted to sign a new deal but asking me to take a wage cut when the players efforts were raking in millions from the CL did not sit well with me'

no fan could argue with this but weighing your options says to the fans that you wanted out and were hoping someone would come in for you... we are not mugs Joe so please do not treat us as such and if the club low-balled you then speak up

I think it was out of respect for the club that he didn't mention what he got offered, if it was indeed less. Imagine the unrest that would have caused amongst our fans, myself included to be fair. However, it is all guesswork, and none of the fans know for certain.

Ledley didn't deserve a penny more.

He had more than enough time to decide on his future here. If he wanted to stay, he could have.

I wish him every success in his career, but he's moved on and we need to focus on the current squad now.

If he really wanted to stay he would have signed the deal.

Don't know what is to be gained by saying this. He didn't leave the club under a cloud and for me didn't need to try and ingratiate himself with the fans.

He left and that's that. He could have stayed but he didn't.

He'll be two points above the relegation zone if Man Utd close this out. :fear:

I wish the guy well and we do miss his energy in the team but I think Super Joe is blowing smoke up our arses considering how long did he have a contract in front of him and never signed it .

I heard from a good source yesterday that we stand to make another 2mil on Ledleys transfer fee if Crystal Palace stay in the EPL,can anyone confirm if this is true??

Palace are 10 points ahead of the relegation zone with 4 games to go so they are almost definately a EPL club next season.

I do think we got stung a bit in only collect 800k for him albeit he was out of contract this summer. He has been excellent for them since he moved to them.
