Never understood these * in the press ec. who think we should want Tangers to win for Scotlands sake. Why would we want out only rivals to get a wad of cash they could use to boost thier squad. Just doesn't make any sense???

 

If we both qualify - we both get about £10M

Only watched the 2nd half. Was shocked at how bad Belgrade were. They couldnt even control simple passes and had no fght at all. Their only good player was the guy on the wide left. I reckon Falkirk or Aberdeen would have beaten them tonight. Their fans were superb though and deserved a better team with the same spirit as them. Rangers were very clever too and deserved the win.

Andy Walker said recently in a very good article (unusual for him) that the results of the Old Firm's CL games and the financial implications could have far reaching affects the balance of Old Firm power:

1. Celtic win, Rangers loose=a decade of domimation for Celtic
2. Both win=no change in balance but better for the SPL (i.e. closer title race between Old Firm).
3. Both loose=no change in balance but * for Scottish football
4. Rangers win, Celtic lose=Celtic's financial advantage is cancelled out overnight.

Gutted it wasnt 1 but please let it be 3 and not 4.

I thought like that until recently when the sheer finacial advantage it gives came so clear last year. Basically if we could qualify a few years on the trot while Rangers didnt, we would disappear out of sight in terms of money and money means domination unless you have a truly dire manager of a Barnes/ Le Guen variety.

 

Sorrow. I feel awful, after last night. Our fans made *, it was great atmosphere, but there was no * goal in the huns net. I am so sad.

Unforunately we didn't manage to qualify in CL, but that's a long story and i don't wanna bother you with that.

As for tonight match at Celtic Park, althoug I like Celtic, otherwise i wouldn't be on this forum, I will support Spartak on first place, coz their supporters are our(Red Star Supporters) friends, but if Celtic qualify for CL i 'll be happy as well.

I have to say that the Serbs and Croats (I know you dont get on too well with each other) are amazing fans and the best singers in world football. The singing makes your hair stand on end and they never give up. I watch their international games sometimes just to hear the singing. Serbia v Croatia would be some game!!
