Players will hopefully have that in their heads. I can see us giving them a right doing. Put the * back in their place.

Hate is a strong word for insignificant football clubs.

The Dandy Dons are not insignificant. One city, one team, two European trophies :shamrock:

    Agreed.

Aberdeen's not a club to be taken lightly.

Not to suggest Neil Lennon's men won't be up for it, but if some of our supporters think Aberdeen's a diddy club, well ... they're not.

    He's wrong?

They beat Real Madrid in the 1983 Cup Winners' Cup Final.

    I don't want this to become a Dons love-in, but * sake ... that's pedigree.

Anyone know if the top tear has been blocked off or has been sold out?

Whats the point in opening it though?

Been a long time probably since over 40,000 went to a home Cup game, will be a better atmosphere with everybody packed in rather than spread out.

Last home Scottish Cup attendances against Arbroath, Dundee, Queens Park, Aberdeen, Stirling, Dumbarton, Ross County, St Mirren and St Johnstone the crowds have ranged from between 18,000 and 33,000 - actually that 33,000 was the only time over 29,000 have went to one, it was against Aberdeen.

The highest home Scottish Cup attendance from 2000-now was 34,672 against Hearts in the Quarter Final in 2001. Im not sure how many exactly fit in the bottom tier but its about 40,000 so plenty of room.

PS. I never included Derby games against the Dead as they were obviously full.

Its a fair point, but I was more digging at the fans. I know we have a big stadium, but as much as Celtic fans might not like it. Celtic v Aberdeen is probably the biggest game we will have in months. If this isn't going to be our biggest domestic turn out especially with cheap tickets this season, then Celtic are slowly losing there touch of having the 'loyal' fans.

The League Cup attendances are even worse, we havent had over 20,000 at a home League Cup game since 2008. And only had over 25,000 in a home League Cup game once in the last decade.

Our highest home Cup attendance in the last 14 years was that 34,672 against Hearts in 2001 in the Scottish Cup.

The last time we actually got a "big" attendance in a home Cup game against a diddy team was 1997 when 45,000 went to a game against Hibs.

Previous to that it was probably 1990 when 41,000 went to a game against Dunfermline a Quarter Final replay.

If we get 41,000 it will be the 3rd biggest Cup attenance against a diddy team in the last 25 years.

46,000 against Hearts in 1989 is the best, 45,000 against Hibs in 1997 would be the 2nd best and just under 41,000 V Dunfermline in 1990 is the 3rd best currently.

40 odd thousands still a great crowd considering we're still not at the latter rounds and it's a quarter to one kick off on a saturday..

Surely if the bottom tier sells out they will have to start opening sections in the top tier.

    Surely?

No they would need to have polis, pie stall workers, health and safety and stewards etc, it wont sell out anyway. Considering we've not had enough people to fill the bottom tier at a game since 1989 then why would we now?

A lot of season ticket holders dont go to Cup games, they see it as a "break" and probably most people who travel 20+miles to games won't go to Cup games and with it being on TV.

I think some of our fans are trying to build it up into a big special match against the mighty Aberdeen when in reality we'll probably dominate and roll them over much like the last X amount of games against them.

Aberdeen havent beat us for over 5 year. And we've won the last 10 home games against them in a row scoring 29 goals.
