I've been listening to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for years, that's pretty much how I've learned the English language. :84:

Even as a Spartak fan, I have to admit that Dynamo Kiev was the best Soviet Club (Dynamo Kiev was a major Spartak rival in the 80s). Although, 4 other Soviet teams, including Spartak, were crowned as champions in the 80s. The Soviet league was VERY competitive, and I am sure that a lot of fans miss the old rivalries and the fierce competition.

BUT, Dynamo Kiev was never famous for the "short passing" game style. The "short passing" game is the trademark of Spartak Moscow. Well, maybe Dynamo Moscow used to play the "short passing" game during its famous trip to the Isles, but that was back in 1945. The Dynamo Kiev's trademark would be a "deadly counter-attack." Dynamo Kiev has played a very physical and defensive style, and it has always relied on world class strikers (no wonder that 3 (!) different Dynamo forwards won a European player of the year title)

And yes, Dynamo Moscow, Torpedo, and Locomotive are still around. Torpedo, sadly, is playing in the second division now though.

Maybe one touch is wrong! It was a very smooth style compared to British football at the time and I never undertood why the USSR didnt win the world cup at the time. A couple of their top players played for our evil foes Glasgow Rangers but they didnt do well in Scotland for some reason: Mikhailichenko and Kuznetzov.

Have we ever had a top Russian player. Only guy I can think of was the goalie Dmitri Kharine but we got him when he was past his best and he didnt play more than one or two games.

At present Spartak is a favorite of Championat in Russia, such it is good tean structure is not present in one command. As helps, teamwork of players and their friendliness with a kind atmosphere in a command

Nah- I think it should be a simple win for us. 0-0 in Moscow, 2-0 at Celtic Park.

Mikhailichenko and Kuznetsov were stars. Kharin was good (but not nearly as good as Dasaev). Considering the fact that a lot of Russian clubs have plenty of cash nowadays, it's highly unlikely for the top Russian players to play in your league. Plus, the Russians don't tend to do that well in Scotland and England. Spain and Portugal tend to suit the Russian players much better.

I would be VERY surprised if we don't see any goals on Wednesday. Both teams love to attack, so we should see an exciting game.

Translation for those who don't speak Russian: Fowler wholeheartedly agrees with my opinion on Bystrov.

Hello dear Fans of Celtic, my dear freinds from SPARTAK and the * * from cska. As you have probably guessed a am a Spartak fan, who is very interested of the opinoin of our rivals. I suppose that every opponent should be treated correctly and with respect. Ofcourse with the exeption of cska and dynamo. These are the worst enemies of ours. We hate them more than anything on Earth! So i beg you not ot believe this "horse'' (Everyone in Russia calls cska fans horses) Because more than half of everuthing e said is complete nonsense and lies!!! In the opposite my freind SpartakMoskva is being pretty sensible. If you would like to hear my opinoin here it is: Spartak is really playing its best season since the end of 90s... when a horrible scandal occured. Most of our players were sold to make a proffit because our president was a complete moron and a true criminal who wanted to make a good profit from a football club that he bought for nothing after the fall of the Soviet Union. At these times the team was a complete mess! And used to hand around the 10th place in our chapionship. But our fas never leave their favourite team alone. We passed the difficult times with our club and now have come the good times. Three years ago Spartak was bought by a wealthy oil company LUKOIL and the new president of Spartak is Leonid Fedun. After his arrival to our club many good football players were bought from Argentina, Austria, Brazil and other Russian football clubs. In addition to that our leader Egor Titov started to show nice football after his disqualification for a year for using doping (Bromantin) (Here our dear "horse" told the truth, there really was a big scandal about using doping when the old moron president was still around. Many players of Spartak were given doping without them knowing about it! But unfortunatelly the only one who was caught - was our capitain Egor Titov. But now he is back and plays some very good football! He has a magnificent veiw of the game and a wonderful pass. He always finds unordinary solutions to the games problems which puts his opponents to a deadlock. What I really wanted to day is that Spartak now is a very good team with a collection of good players. Someone asked who are the good players of Spartak - I can answer... we have a pretty good new goalkeeper - Stipe Pleticosa... the first goalkeeper of the Croation national team, several nice central defenders with Ieranek, Shranzl and Kovac who are pretty tall and who can play the high balls and 2 fast wing defenders Shishkin and Shoave who can help our attacks... Then we have a wonderful Midfield! The best in Russia in my, and not only my opinion... In the middle we have our capitain Titov with his wonderful pass and Mozart with a very strong shot. On the wings we have our reactive jet Bystrov who can run very fast, and gain some free kicks or even a penalty, on the other wing we have Torbinski, the young player who has a very nice technique and who can dribble at a big speed! Also we have to reserve players who can substitute both wingers. A very nice player Boyarintsev who has a nice well placed shot, and who can battle in every situation, and Kalinichenko who is a master of standarts and a player who can help Titov as a playmaker and as well make good crosses from the wing. And finally our attack! Our striker Pavluchenko who is a master both in the air and at ground can score in all situations and in addition Bazhenov, who can create alot of moments but then miss all of them (personally i dont like him alot) and we have 2 very young 17 and 19 forward Dzuba and Prudnikov who are both the students of our Spartak youth school. Not long ago Spartak has signed a young Brazilian forward Velliton who played for Goyas. So that is almost all about Spartak. In addition to everything Spartak has the biggest fan army in Russia. And it is well known that the performances of the Spartak fans are th best, loudest, and most colorfull in Russia! Because SPARTAK fans are the best! The most numerous and fierce of all! The last thing that i wanted to say is that in Luzhniki the stadium where the game will take place there is a sinthetic grass that has spicific qualities... the ball rebounds a bit differently than on real grass. This will sertainly play FOR SPARTAK, because our players are addapted to this kind of grass and yours arent! So i suppose that Spartak will try to create pressure drom the start and try to score a quick goal! My predictions are that Spartak will win 3 - 1 at home and lose 2 - 1 or play 2 - 2 in Scotland, it is certain that it will be a difficult game for Spartak in Scotland, but i really hope that we will qualify for the CL. So, i hope you have had enough information about our team! See everyone tomorrow at the game! Good Luck! =))

They were superb players (especially the big red haired one) but the Scottish League was very very physical (more like wrestling:56:) in the 1980s/ early 90s when they were at Rangers and it did not suit them. One of them injured his cruciate in his first game or so. Rangers were (unfortunatley for Celtic) the richest team in Britain at the time with a 'sugar daddy' (who is not so rich now:56:) and they had many England internationalists too. All Scottish team are very very poor now compared to England because of TV money. We only have a population of 5 million, similar to Norway etc. The style you played at the time was very different. I cant describe the style the old soviet teams had then but they had great touch and passed the ball into space really well and everyone ran into space for each other. We would call it an advance-passing system. It flowed smoothly and looked great. Even now in Scotland, every blade of grass is fought for and there is no space to move for players.

Monthehopps is on a one man mission to destroy friendly relations with Russia. He has undone all the good work done in the last 30 years including the anti nuclear treaties. Monthehoops may eventually cause a return tot he cold war WW III:56:.
