It's clear now that this was undoubtedly the right move for him.

Today is only the 14th League match he's started in his career so far but he has 8 goals, his other 20 League appearances have been as a sub.

I would have preferred to see him play in the SPFL. He will be a first team player for us. Very soon.

So he will come back and only have to battle it out with Armstrong, Johansen, Forrest, GMS, Commons, Rogic, Christie and Allan. Far too many :smiley-laughing002:

Still don't really understand loaning him out and bringing in Allan.

Obviously I hope Allan does the business but Henderson looked every inch the Celtic player when he played for us.

Maybe being the main man at Hibs will give him stature and a maturity.

I think I'm thinking of Celtic youth teams gone by, going out on loan usually meant a death knell for a Celtic career.

It's actually not a bad idea sending players on loan to top teams in lower divisions, because they will playing roughly against the same tactics and formations we face domestically ourselves. A lot of teams down there will park the bus against Hibs so Henderson is getting experience of trying to unlock packed defences.

Not sure what you are getting at Paul. Did Liam Miller go out on loan for a time?

Even so, one name out of hundreds of failed youngsters since I've been following Celtic doesn't really take away from my point.

Hopefully now going out on loan means something, to gain first team experience and more importantly, to be playing in a similar environment to ours.

True, but the young players won't get a real chance. 3 positions available between what 9 players? Brown and Bitton won't be rested that much to drop Armstrong or even Henderson in there.

Aye then Man United bought him.

Hundreds of Celtic youth players have went on loan and came back without gaining anything? Can't even name you 20 not saying there hasn't been right enough.

Part of the problem has been our reluctance to let them go historically.
