    Pleased for him.

Arguably our best transfer in recent years - Wanyama went for more money but he was a much bigger loss. Ki was a good player for us, yet we haven't missed him at all and we got 6 mill for him, and he's gone on to have a good career since leaving.

    Perfect all round.
I wouldn't exactly call him an entertainer. Solid and reliable more than entertaining for me.

Alan Hutton? Agree with you about marketability though.

I rated Ki very highly to be fair. Too many of our fans took the typical Scottish mentality I feel with him. The fact he wasn't flying into tackles and chasing everything, he was deemed not good enough. The fact of the matter is, he was the best footballer our midfield had to offer. The type of player he is could have come in very handy in Champions League games, when we all too often struggle to keep hold of the ball for any length of time. (AC Milan away being the exception)

Anyway, glad to see him playing regularly, and playing well at that.

He would have helped us massively in the Champions League.

Scottish football is not slow, whilst we play a more patient game, Scottish football on the whole is one of the fasest in Europe. Not technically great but very fast.

He's well worth what we got though, we were robbed in reality.

    What did we get £5/6million.

    Fellaini £27million
    J.Garcia £20million
    Allen £15million
    Rodwell £12million
    Capoue £11million

Dembele of Spurs who is a similar player to Ki was £15million.

Jelavic, Boumsong and Hutton went for more than Ki.

We are still living in about 10 years ago where £6million is seen as being a good fee. Players like Hooper and Ki in the EPL are going for £10-14million and players like Wanyama for £20-25million. So we're selling * at half price.

Sure it happened when he got to the final with Swansea last season as well.

I never rated him highly when he was here but if we had played in this diamond formation he would have fitted in far better. But with Mulgrew we get cover when VVD or Izaguirre go forward so we would lose that. People exaggerate greatly how good a player he is, if he was that gifted he wouldn't be at Sunderland.

One of our most talented players, Kris Commons was signed never even reached the heights of playing in the EPL. So, just because he isn't at a top team, doesn't mean to say he wasn't talented or gifted enough to be one of our best players. Which, as a footballer, he probably was.

Do you think Commons is good enough for the Premiership ? He's fantastic in the SPL in the role he currently plays but in Europe he struggles. Ki was plying his trade in the EPL, so managers would have seen him plenty in the flesh and formed an opinion on him, so when they seen him fall out of favour at Swansea they would have pounced if they deemed him good enough.

You are missing my point. The fact is, Commons is one of our best players, and plays a vital role for us. He never even managed to play in the EPL, Ki has, and for a few years now. So your argument about him not being that gifted doesn't really stand up. Just because he plays for Swansea or Sunderland doesn't mean that he couldn't have been one of our best players. In my opinion, he was extremely underrated by some, if he had the same energy levels and dig as Brown, then our fans would have loved him. It's just the typical Scottish mentality I think. He was a an out and out ball player, and I don't think we appreciated how good a footballer he was. He could have been a key player in Europe for us, as I've said, because we are crying out for a player like him, someone who can put their foot on the ball and pick a pass.

I never said he wasn't gifted, just not as gifted as some folk like to think. I did state he would have been better suited to playing in a diamond formation here, just think you need a bit more grit about you to play in midfield up here. You call it Scottish mentality but it's the whole style of football up here, bordering on * the style of play at times and some players just don't suit it. He's not the first, and won't be the last.

Easily our most talented player since Nakamura in my opinion, shame we couldn't keep hold of him for at least another year and got over £10 million for him. To say getting £6 million for a player like him is "lucky", is just absolutely ridiculous.

He's an incredible player and I hope his team do the business at Wembley.

I didn't mention that you had said he wasn't gifted, you said "he can't be that gifted" because he was only at Sunderland. Which was why I brought up Commons, as he is arguably our most gifted player just now, buthas never even played in the EPL.

It is a typical Scottish mentality though, and it goes right through every age group, or at least it used to anyway. You can't have eleven Scott Brown type players in your team, just as you can't have eleven players like Ki. However, he could quite easily have played in our midfield I think, if you had a player like Brown or Kayal beside him.

He didn't look comfortable in the midfield in the Europa League.

I normally agree with you but that statements utter nonsense. Even more so because of the fact he was struggling to hold down his place in the team.

A career of these type of 3 and 4 game purple patches in amongst nothing more than mediocrity.

Refuses to accept creative responsibility, drifts in and out of games when he wants and is extremely passive the vast majority of the time.

I wouldn't buy him back for Celtic for half what we sold him for.
