Just because that's what you thought he was doesn't mean he has to do that to play well. :smiley-laughing002:

Put himself about, broke up attacks and pinged it about all day.

That seems to be a problem with you, not with Johansen. You can't admit that you were wrong about the position of a player and then judge him by the position you thought he was.

I thought he was a bit average today, although I expect him to get better once he fosters an understanding of the league. Some poor balls.

As I said though, I expect him to come good within the next 2-3 matches.

Stefan is definitely better in a three man central midfield, and I thought today he formed a good partnership with Nir Biton, would like to see more of them together. He put in a very good shift, breaking up attacks and spraying some good balls forward to the strikers, he showed a lot more dig and just needs to keep imposing himself on his opponents.

Liked the look of him tidy on the ball but will have to work on his passing. Some of his long range balls were woeful today.

Think he'll be a class player for us.

Ive been pleasantly surprised by this guys tenacity in closing an opponent down and digging in when needed. Probably Like most people on here i was expecting a classy, possibly quite fragile, when he signed. And although hr had some misplaced passes today, i like the way he fires the ball into the forwards feet and im pretty sure he'll find his range. I know its early days but im enthusiastic. If he finds his feet, i think we'll be forgetting super joe in no time!

I like his style, I think he needs time to adapt right enough.

    He's such a work-horse.

He just needs to bulk up a wee bit, that's all.

He'll be a key, key player come our Champions League qualifiers in the Summer.

I think he comes across as a work horse because he's eager to impress (obviously), yet hasn't gotten used to the frantic pace of the game. He looks like he's constantly annoyed at being harried by the oppositions pressure.

I am looking forward to seeing him relax and become more composed. Then we'll have a player.

    Not yet.

He hasn't played a great game for us yet, either.

    Good, yes. Not great.

    That'll come, no doubt.

I'm not on here to run Johansen down, but Ledley never got dominated in his time at Celtic as Johansen did last week against Aberdeen. Team selection probably didn't help, but Ledley was never bullied like that.

I think he looks very comfy on the ball, and looks like he has a good range of passing in his locker. I have my concerns about his physical attributes however. He does seem very lightweight in my opinion.

I think Johansen would be best suited in a quicker midfield...he probably would've fitted in well with Ledley, ironically enough. Next to Biton, who is still settling in, and Brown, who can't pass, the amount of work that is put on his shoulders is a little too much. I am expecting him to swim rather than sink, though.

I don't have the proper memory, but considering I saw Virgil van Dijk get bullied by Shakhtar Karagandy I believe that Ledley has had at least one of those matches as well. In any case, I don't think he was bullied, I think he and Brown were run tired and ragged due to constant 1v2, 2v3, 4, and 5 situations.

I've saw Ledley get dominated in a two man midfield a few times for us to be fair.

That just sounds like nostalgia, mate. Ledley had games like that when he was here.

If someone can tell me a game where he was bullied like our central midfielders were last week then I will concede mate. I just don't remember ever seeing Ledley get bullied like that. It looked like men against boys in my opinion.
