Please quote the post that leads you to believe this or do you just like to make random assumptions on peoples opinions?

I wouldnt rather live under either, but given the choice.

It is a well known fact that Adolf supported a United Ireland, another point considering the brutality the English have done to the Irish for 100's of years i would prefer them to be out of Ireland altogether.

The post the makes me believe this? I'm asking you a question.

You agree that Kitchener is awful yes?

You agree that Hitler is awful yes?

Then surely it wouldn't be much of a logical leap to say that supporting one while condemning the other is ridiculous?

Fair enough but regardless of hitler supporting a united ireland I'd rather live under anyone's rule but his. Most evil man to have ever lived and in a fairly short space of time was responsible for the deaths of millions.

    Naw he didny :smiley-laughing002:

He offered to 'unite' Ireland if they helped him invade England. The same offer was made by Churchill if Ireland declared war on Germany.
Oddly they chose to side with the *'s while India and a half dozen other countries gained their independence thanks to their sacrifices in the war.

Anyway.... * coin, and i agree it's not a good image to put on it. A Tommy would have been a batter choice imho.

Can you provide me with some decent evidence that hitler supported a united Ireland?

Genuinely interested because that's the first I've heard of it.

Officially they where neutral, but the traitors (that accepted partition in Ireland) that where in government at the time secretly sided with the British and Yanks.
While the IRA supported the Germans.

So where did I support either? Why do you ask me ridiculous questions? Why not ask this question to all the other posters.

    Probably :smiley-laughing002:

The deal was thus: The *'s would supply and help plan an 'invasion' of Northern Ireland by the IRA (3 different * agents were para dropped in) in conjunction with the * invasion of England. In essence to open up 'two fronts' for England to fight on.
Neither invasion happened as Hitler bottled it even though the invasion of the North only got cancelled a few hours before the Army started rolling out.
Hitler had no intention of invading England, he knew their Navy and Luftwaffe weren't up to the job.

Sean Russell the IRA chief of staff at the time has said it, its in his biography i believe.

Well the general belief is that Hitler didnt want to control Ireland but have it as a ally. To be honest it wouldnt have been much good to him as it had no strategic or economic value to occupy.

How much of that would have been true if he won in Europe no one knows.

    Christ.

I asked the question because you said ther

Where did I say you support either?

It's a fairly simple, straightforward question, but well played in dodging it.

I will answer this question if you explain to me why out of all the posters in this thread you picked me out for this question. I will PM an answer to this question to any other poster but will not answer it for you without an explanation.

I can't take the word of one person as solid evidence I'm afraid. I was looking more at quotes from high-up * officials, or even historical consensus.

Either way, Ireland shouldn't be dragged into this thread. My original point was that criticsing Kitchener while saying Hitler coming to power would be a good thing, is ridiculous.

Well he was the most senior member of the IRA at the time, and had nothing to gain after the war in saying he supported the Nazis.
I would take it as pretty good evidence.
There is more proof out there from documents and propberly testominy from the Nazis out there somewhere.

Try this page, there is loads of information onit:

    http://www.historyireland.com/20th-...heres-to-adolph-hitler-the-ira-and-the-nazis/

    Also a great Irish poem:

    ‘Oh here’s to Adolph Hitler,
    Who made the Britons squeal,
Sure before the fight is ended
They will dance an Irish reel.’ :smiley-laughing002:
