We are obviously not gonna spend in January, after all the board have had to keep paying UEFA and other clubs money for stupid fines that could have been avoided :86:

I know what you mean but he never got a longer contract - he just came a year later. :50:

No doubt we won't spend a penny in January. Maybe a free loan of some 18 year old goalkeeper, that's if we don't have to pay his wages.

Don't worry lads, the majority of the 40M income last year from transfers and Europe will remain firmly in the PLC's wallets.

We always make signings of sorts in January. There is no point signing players on loan unless it is with a view to make it permanent. I'm pretty confident we will sign at least 2 players either permanent or loan with full intentions of buying in the summer, to get them settled in the team and country.

Rubbish , do you not realise the club has day to day expenses , a vast wage bill from players all the way down to stall workers selling programmes , electricity that has to be paid for ...It will be used as part of the bigger picture ....

Lennon has said at his Hibs pre-match presser that he'll be looking to strengthen in January. Take from that what you will.

    We need a top goalscorer.
We're not going to buy a top goalscorer in January.

    End of thread really.

    Stop talking *.

I said we had 40M income. We could have had much less if it wasnt for the 25m in European money and 15m odd in transfers to spend on 'electricity' so I expect a lot more come transfer time considering the club isn't in any debt. To think we couldn't have spent more in the summer you must be extremely naive.

It's not vital we spend in January, it's just convenient.

I want all the best players to come to paradise but will we sign anyone? It remains to be seen. I doubt anything more than £3m is spent in total in this window.

We really should be alright with next seasons's CL qualifiers. Our team is enough as it is. We must have learnt from this season's close-shave.

You never know, this Fridjonsson kid could be a * diamond. And Tony Watt might come back a more mature and rounded striker.

*, if we're on this note, Bangura might come back and actually live up to the tag of being recommended by the king himself.

    2 out of 3 ain't bad...

Disagree completely for reasons stated in the OP.

Signing players a couple weeks before a Champions League qualifier isn't ideal, giving them 6 months to bed in is.

Potentially. It all comes down to the draw. If we keep the personnel we have, we should do the job. We did it this season. And next year, we're only going to be a more gelled team.

I think with this seasons disappointment in the group stages, we will come out fighting straight from the off.

What we need to know is how much Lennon will be given to spend. Next seasons CL will make the world of difference if we get there which is obviously why the stakes are high to get in.

Getting them in for January would be much better of course. But it's all up Lawwell ultimately.

It's worth the risk as we should make it no matter what but as businessmen, will they take this risk in spending big now before we get back into the groups again?

That's what it must come down to, surely.

We won't spend in January, maybe a couple of half hearted loan signings.

Nah, I don't expect anyone in January, it would be a major surprise... it's next summer we should be looking towards.
