I've got friends in the youth team, they all love celtic. But they have no oppertunity to break into the first team, it's sad that only about 4 have had appearances out of a bunch of about 18 boys. If I were them, especially midfielders, I'd be handing a transfer request in tomorrow. There's only a short window for youth players to properly break into the professional leagues, I don't want to see them all waste their time sitting at home.

We really should have at least one or two outside Fischer breaking in and getting 1st team.

Sounds like Rogic is next in line, although in his interview after Milan, Lennon said he hasn't ruled out a loan move in Jan.

Other than those two, we have McGeough who never seems to get a run.

Irvine is on loan but I haven't seen him exactly blaze it alight at Killie.

Celtic should be producing more prominent talent. We keep signing 'projects' but can we not create our own * projects?

It's clear that the youth players haven't been getting the chance since TB passed away. In our current team we have Forrest, who takes a lot of abuse from the fans.
Is there an ex Celtic player we have over looked that had an excellent coaching ability that could be brought back to the club to head up the youth set up. Some one with gravitas. A Celtic legend. Someone who loves the club and wants the responsibility of bringing thru the future stars of the club.
What about John Collins or Paul Mcstay?

It's a shame he would be just the man to take over as mentor and figurehead for the youth set up. Collins might be worth talking to.

This is something I think we really need to be seeing more of..

I've been calling for this for a long time and in the long run it's a win win situation we are nurturing and producing the best talent in the country, most support the club and it will eventually save us money and we won't have to soley scour the continent as we'll be playing our own young stars and making them the next big thing..

We have to start implementing this, not for a couple of games and then dropping them as immediate results didn't go our way, stick by them, they will come good,I'm sure for every age group there is at least 1 who could make the grade but it seldom happens, unfortunate injuries, lack of game time,no trust and the fact we have a talented squad from all over..

Let's bed these kids in,we have a unique situation where we can afford to test and have the odd hiccup by doing so..
We are in need of changes in the squad and a fresh approach.
There is nothing better than by playing hungry fearless kids who will give there all to impress..

There is a lot of negative doom and gloom around at the minute but we have a lot to be happy, excited about and proud of..

This is the first time that we'll have a real opportunity to do it though.

First full season under Lennon we were competing with THEM up until the final day of the season. Second season we were focusing on winning our first league title in 4 years, also Watt did get his chances that year. Last year, we were in the champions league until March and that was a huge focus and needed our senior, experience players consistently.

Now however, we're out of Europe in November and it's time for guys like Rogic, McGeoch, Fischer and the likes to be given regular chances. It's also a time for the still relatively young Balde, to try and prove he's good enough to be our number 9 striker.
