Love the man.........but understand how others are irritated by him, the way he is rolled out for any benefit type concert as the end of show act with Hey Jude.
It isnt his fault John died and became infinitely more interesting, even though he already was alive.........but he is still a genius, and there isnt a single rock band/artist that hasnt directly benefited from his role in the history of rock/pop music.................NONE!

Best Beatle by far. If you read the history of how the albums came together, the concepts behind them. Lennon sat lazily about in his country mansion in the 60s writing songs like Good Morning, Good Morning inspired from a ceral box. McCartney lived in the heart of London and went to lots of experimental underground music shows looking to push pop music forward which he did through the beatles. For instance Sgt.Pepper was his baby and it's a widly known fact.

    If you know your History..

Talented musician obviously..... but he does come across as a bit of an irritable *. Easily my least favourite of the Beatles.

The word 'genius' gets paddled about far too much these days... McCartney is one of the few who deserves the title! Incredible lyricist and musician.

John's legacy was secured by dying in tragic circumstances when he was still young and cool. I have no doubt that if he was still alive today, he would have been an insufferable *!

As some have already said, yes he is a bit irritating and arrogant at times, but there can be no doubt that he was the standout in the beatles, which, considering they are the greatest band of all time, is astonishing. He was responsible for all of the experimental, ethereal goodness that the beatles were capable of at their peak. A very underrated bassist too.

If it wasn't for Paul McCartney there wouldn't even be half the artists you listen to today.

Whether or not that is a good thing is a debate for another day.
