There is obviously alot we don't know about him behind the scenes. Its a shame.

Hopefully we have first refusal on him aswell or a sell-on percentage. There is some player in there, just hope one day he realises the potential.

Must have enjoyed Belgium if he is willing to go back.

I wonder who made the decision to punt him, its a bit baffling Deila wanted to sign him last season, now in the space of 4/5 weeks hes offski.
Forster, vvd and ambrose next ?

I doubt it would be Lawwell, if that's what you mean. Lawwell would be daft to force a new manager to sell one of our youths 5 weeks after taking over, especially for only £1.2m.

Watt wouldn't be going if Deila wanted to keep him. Unless it's Watt that is the one that has asked to leave. People seem to forget that the players have to agree to it as well

Does this sound like he wanted to leave.

THIS is the club for me.

Tony Watt uttered those words as he stood in St Pauli’s Millerntor-Stadion on Saturday evening.

Fresh from his first Celtic start under new boss Ronny Deila, the striker was adamant he was going NOWHERE.

Less than 48 hours later, Watt stands on the verge of sealing a shock £1.2million switch to Standard Liege.

Maybe it was all Belgian waffle from the striker, deep down, he sensed that his Celtic career was coming to an end.

But it didn’t seem that way as Watt spoke from the heart about his hopes for a fresh start at Parkhead.

He hit back at criticism of his attitude and revealed he didn't want to merely be remembered as the Bhoy who beat Barcelona.

Yet as he boarded a flight to Liege, it became clear that famous Champions League winner WILL be the pinnacle of his Hoops career.

Watt told SunSport: “I think it’s harsh when people talk about ‘the rise and fall’ and things like that.

“That goal happened in my career. It’s one of the best moments of my life.

“But it’s NOT what I want to be remembered for.

“I want to play for Celtic. Maybe the happiest moment of my life was making my debut for this club.

“I am a Celtic fan and I had achieved a goal in my life. This is the club for me.

“If the club don’t want me, then I’ll need to look — but I’m not interested in going anywhere just now.”

That was Saturday. There was no hint of his move to Liege being on the cards in Germany, yet football never ceases to amaze you.

The Scotland Under-21 striker spent last season on loan in Belgium — scoring eight times in his 17 appearances for Lierse.

A bust-up with boss Stanley Menzo saw the move turn sour — but Watt hit back at criticism of his character.

He said: “A lot of things I read, like my attitude was stinking... I have never once been disrespectful to a coach.

“I have always treated them with respect. They are my boss, the people I need to answer to.

“What’s the point in being disrespectful? I won’t play.”

Watt insists that Liege will be getting a proper professional.

He admits he had picked up bad habits after moving into a flat in Glasgow prior to his Belgian stint.

Too many late nights and a bad diet contributed to him falling out of favour under Neil Lennon at Celtic. But he now knows what it really takes to make the grade and he has vowed to knuckle down.

Watt said: “I went to Belgium last year to play games and ended up playing 17, which wasn’t as many as I expected.

“But I was happy with the way I played and I felt I gave a good account of myself.

“In terms of football development, Belgium was good. It was a different league, different culture.

“You are away from your family, but everything was different, the food, the supermarkets — it was all new to me. The language was also a big thing, but I adapted well and I enjoyed it.

“Did I feel I grew up? I didn’t think I needed to. I was just there as a 19-year-old laddie and I needed to go and try new things.

“Sometimes in Glasgow, you get too used to the same things all the time and you maybe get into bad routines. You do stupid things like maybe staying up late during the week or eating the wrong things.

“It’s too easy. But when you are away, you are just thinking about football, football, football.

“Have I changed in that respect? Yeah, but that’s down to my family as well.

“I moved out of my house before I went to Lierse. I thought I’d try to see what it’s like to live alone.

“But I couldn’t cook, sometimes I was fond of a takeaway or eating bad. You don’t realise how important a diet is to your career." The loss of Watt will be a blow to Deila — who tried to take him to Stromsgodset last season.

The Norwegian had vowed to work closely with the striker — and Watt appreciated that approach.

He said: “The manager will tell me if I am not 100 per cent. He will say ‘I want you to improve on this or that’.

“If I am 100 per cent, he will come and give you confidence and tell you what’s good and bad. It’s great to have someone like that.”

Watt was denied the chance of a farewell goal in Hamburg.

He grabbed the ball first when Celtic were awarded a late penalty — only for the Hoops management team to overrule him.

Instead Bahrudin Atajic stepped up and blazed over the bar — but Watt later backed the Swede.

He said: “I wanted to take the penalty but John Kennedy had told Bahrudin to take it.

“It’s hard for Bahrudin. I’d never seen him miss a penalty even in training. He was unlucky. It was an absolute fluke that he missed.”

I must say though, anytime I have watched him play he has a good attitude but obviously he must be * ronny of and creating tension in the team. He can do whatever the * he likes in his personal time as long as it isn't affecting him on the pitch

Anyhoo, * craic. Would rather he stayed but whatever

As for Lawwell meddling its not like he doesnt have previous, he froze out Bobo under Strachan, then sold Miller against Strachans wishes by threatening to leave him in the stand for remainder of his contract, let Samaras contract run out against Lennons wishes bla bla

Most likely it's a decision made by Deila, Lawell etc.

Watt grabbed the ball to try to take the penalty, but Deila told the Scot to give it to Atajic. Watt was none too pleased and his mood worsened when his Bosnian team-mate blazed his spot-kick over the bar.
Deila said: “Buahrudin had been told before the game that he would hit the penalties. Maybe Tony didn’t know that. I told Tony he was involved in the miss because Bahrudin lost his concentration when he had to run after the ball.”

fair enough but Atajic was * on saturday as always.

I said in the match thread concerning McMullen (who won the pen), you gotta show balls and say it's mine. Watt stepping up shows what he's got. Paul will never make it here, Atajic probably won't, but Tony could have been huge. A real Hunskelper.

    * off, yet again.

McMullen might but hes is a bit on the small side, Atajic isn't up to it and Watt would have made it.

so you've made the decision that mcmullan won't make it here after watching him for 45 minutes and because he didn't step up and take a spot kick despite the fact that he'd been told before the game that atajic was the penalty taker? As for the watt transfer it would be laughably stupid if true considering we seem to be keeping atajic and balde who are both pretty *.
