    shocking.

the comments on here that is.

craig beattie will come good. he's been injured ALOT

craig beattie had a poor season. thers no excusing that bar he was injured from last season
he didnt have a bad season in strachs first season incharge, he scored a few goals i.e. the one to make it 4-4 the opening day of the season against motherwell, the team that beat us meaning we didnt win the league the season prior.

craig beattie will be good for west brom if hes 100% fit. all the best to him

I do believe he could of come good but the injurys he has had is terrible and i dont beleive he will get better. he always pull his hamstring.
what he does have is a bit oof power and a bit of speed but he is scared to use incase he gets injured again.
when he runs he is always looknig at his feet and is the main problem he has a bad 1st touch in that when it comes to him he loses focus and lets it go off

All things considered certainly no better than an average player. :86:
And he has had trouble with injuries, which I fail to see how that could possibly improve, meaning they were far too frequent! :87:
Good luck to him and West Brom. :50:

In summary: Decent goal threat. Good pace. Look for him to net 15-20 goals at championship level if he gets a good run of games. He's not premiership/Celtic class though.

Mate alot of guys on here seem to give any player that never really made it here, and some that did, bad press. I've always liked Beattie and if he had stayed fit then I think he had the potential to become a Celtic regular. Maybe this is what he needs at this stage in his career. Given he steers clear of injuries and gets a good run of games I can honestly see him scoring a good few goals for you guys, and I really hope he does. Best of luck to him.

Agree - I thought 500k would have been a good bit of business for us, but to get 1.25 mill, well I'd have loved to be a fly on the wall when somebody told WGS "hey boss, you'll never guess what West Brom have paid for Craig Beattie" :yeah:

I think this puts it inot perspective of hoe the huns have no money. They are trying to get one of the youngest and highly rated scottish strikers for the same or LEES ,in the end up, than we sold one of our duds for

Injury robbed him. He has superb pace, is big strong, good shiot, tough, scored all types of goals - some crackers. Not many strong players are very fast too but he is. His touch is a bt heavy but he temporarily fixed that a couple of years ago after a run in the team and he looked a great prospect with everything. Seriously looked a real old fashioned striker but with serious pace. He came back after a year and a half out and his touch was very poor but thats not surprising. If he gets a reasonable run and stays injury free (a big if) he could be a steal and we could have egg on our faces but he is amazingly injury prone 'old glass hamstrings'. Good luck Craig. Think you will do well and we will see you in a Scotland strip again.

He was superb - really superb - before his hamstrings went funny. At the start of season 2005-6 he was played wide left and kept Maloney out until he ws injured - Maloney then got in and won the player of the year at the end of the season. If he stays fit and is a regular he will be a star at championship level. All the negative comments above are short-memory comments based on his come-back period in the 2nd half of last season when he was poor but clearly not match fit.

Had loads of potential but could never really flourish because of strikers like Sutton, Hartson and Larsson. Then after they left he couldn't stop getting injured. If he can get a good run of games under his belt then he can be a good player. All that was needed was for some manager to take a chance on him but then again we might have stung you's a bit for the money, we're laughing dude!!

Beattie is strong and fast and he has a goal in every other start for Celtic. But he is extremly injury-prone and has the touch of a rapist.

Superb - really superb? My *. Your endless and enthusiastic defence of second rate players is incredible Keltoi. Beattie is nowhere near good enough to command a starting place at Celtic, and never would have been.

That is not short term memory loss, he made a decent impact as a sub a few times but that was it. He runs with his head down, he collapses in a heap at the slightest hint of a challenge and is incredibly injury prone. And he has definitely not been 'superb' for any length of time during his time at the club.

I'd have bitten the hand off any club offering half of what we got for him. You on the other hand are Mr Mediocrity, always trying to find the positives about extremely average players who are never going to take us forward. ie Beattie, Marshall and of course, Misser Miller.
