Anyone got any highlights? Missed the game today being at work.

 

I missed the game today but I agree 100%

Last season he seemed to complain a lot that players were either tired or that they werent motivated before and after after European nights, but then would insist on playing the same team again and again.

I think today it may have been a case of trying to find a bit of form before Wednesday, which probably didnt work. I would have been happy to see an entirely different 11 play today, which is what Karagandy did last week before they played us.

 

Why are we so SLOW to move the ball around ? Quicken up the passing and make more runs off the ball!
Seriously, the tempo we play at is ridiculous!

Balde looked decent. Won a lot in the air and held the ball up fairly well. Good turn for his chance, really created it for himself and was unlucky with the finish. Think he'll relax a little once he gets his first goal. I'd give him a starting spot on Wednesday.

That's what can happen when you don't take your chances- Watt should have bust the net at one end but hits it straight at keeper. A minute later and we go one down. The second goal was a poor one to concede.

Thought Amido did well, but some of the crosses coming into the box were ridiculously poor- with the height of our team we should really be scoring more headers. Good come back in the end- a bit of pace and urgency really makes the difference. We also got lucky when Van * lost his man on the half way line- if he'd have squared it they would have went 3-1 up and it would have been a hard one to recover from.

Over all I enjoyed the game- was entertaining and a decent result after being 2 down.

 

Well thank * for Adam Matthews. Easily for me our man of the match. A brilliant run and finish for our second goal and looked dangerous all day long. For me while our defending was awful on the second goal in particular our real problem was once again up front where without Stokes on the field we have no out and out goalscorer in the team. Then without Commons we struggled to break them down with creativity from midfield. Defending was again an issue certainly. But I do like the initial looks we have had of Van Dijk and I think while we look poor at the back at times I think we have enough quality there that its more about getting time and rhythm together then we don't have the players in the squad.
Up front though we are really struggling and that for me is our biggest issue by far. I will say though at least we showed some fight to come back and get a point after the disaster of going 2-0 down right off the back of the fiasco last Tuesday night. Not a good performance but after what happened Tuesday and with such a big game to come on Wednesday this was always going to be a tough game to get 3 points in right now.

 

That is a dangerous attitude to have.

We can;t win every game, and thinking we can or should is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Butcher has his team set up very well, we were very unlucky today. Poor defending yes but at the other end we just didn't get the breaks.

On another day we would have won 5-2.

I'll never think we are good enough to beat any team. It's 11v 11 after all.

 

I know what you mean and it does seem a bit optimistic. Teams do try that bit harder against Celtic because, well, they have to really.

Just got flashbacks of last season where we dominate teams but fail to win the game. Praying we're not as inconsistent as then.

One thing we learned today was, without Commons, Samaras, Stokes or Boerrigter, we have 0 creativity in the final third. The lads out there just didn't know what to do once we got to the opposition box. A bit of luck with Mulgrew's goal and some very nice individual work from Adam Matthews got us a point.

 

You can;t include Derk as we have only seen 30 minutes of him. Including him in a creativity debate is like slating Van Dijk as a defender after hee haw time.

Two of the other three were playing when we couldn't score in a barrel of fannies the other night.

 

Good that we didnt lose the game and found a way back in the end.

 

This Izzy being poor is weird.

He put in a * load of crosses that were defended well by Inverness, meaning they must have been in dangerous places.

 

This type of performance is happening all to often....Dominating play but conceding every time our opponents attack....no cutting edge at all which is frightening
