Totally agree with this and this is the main thing that annoys me with Lenny. The line-up wasn't working and it should have been changed much earlier that the 70odd minute that Matthews came on at. But even the sub was wrong as he should have thrown an attacking threat like Stokes or Blade on. By the time the changes came it was really too late.

I think he should really have maybe taken Mouyokolo/van Dijk off, put Mulgrew in CD, Samaras out left and had Stokes/Balde and Commons up front.

I have not stopped thinking about this game since Tuesday night. I have never been more frustrated at a result an it's because it was all down to naivety on Lennons part.

I knew before the game it was the wrong setup - playing Samaras up front on his own, throwing two new centre halfs in beside each other, playing Mulgrew at left-mid. Every person on this forum could have told you it was the wrong setup and the worst part is Lennon has tried this setup before and the same thing happens every time - lack of creativity in the final third, inviting pressure onto the defence and always infuriating to watch. So why does he insist on playing this way in away games? Absolutely scandalous. If this was A non-Celtic man managing this team I would be wanting him sacked, simple as that.

This article sums it up for me. It is spot on

Fantastic read that and sums up everything I've been thinking and saying since the game.

Imo Lenny thought it was and thats why he never changed it. I honestly believe he would have been happy with a 1-0 defeat.

Lenny should remember that famous Jock Stein quote " the best place to defend, is the opposition's penalty box ".

So do I. Which is completely embarrassing considering the quality of side we were up against. The first thing he done when we went 2 down was bring a striker on. When it was too late and we had already made a right Noel Hunt of it.

Either that or he saw it wasn't working and was just too stubborn to change it :icon_mrgreen:

    On Shakhtar game.
NL: "Only disappointment for me was the first goal and we should have defended better."

    Is that only the disappointment.

@celticfc: NL: "We are actively trying to get players in. Been knocked back on a couple and doing due diligence on others."

NL: "Working very hard in background to bring players in."

NL: "It's trying to get the right players. Timing is always difficult at this stage."

    Same *, different week. Yawn.

In that context it will be checking out his background, finding out if he is a trouble maker, what his lifestyle is like. Things along those lines. They will have already been scouted so its basically to find out if they would fit in.
