maybe. its human nature to support the best. another thing i find intersting is do these fans feel the same when man united win a trohpy as we do? i dont know if i could feel a proper connection with a team from a foreign country whom i have started supporting in my mid 20's

    There most definitely is.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

The English league is surely far more 'likely' an option (granted not very likely it would seem at the moment) for Celtic to play in than the Dutch league, considering the geographical and political 'connections' of playing in Britain?

Arsenal have over 55000 home fans every game. They have won 13 league titles and 10 FA cups. Compare that to Scottish success. We only had to fend off one team to win a title.

Not denying for a second that clubs like Liverpool and United have a strong core of passionate supporters at the heart of the fanbase, but in my opinion, they are slowly being overrun and outnumbered by the gloryhunters.

Take a matchday at Old Trafford for example. There is no atmosphere there. It genuinely is like a library unless somebody scores and after a minute or two, it all calms down and goes back to normal again. Manchester United do not have an ultras group or a section of fans that can generate noise and atmosphere like the Green Brigade do for 90 minutes, because their stadium is filled with tourists on matchdays.

That's fair enough the ones that you know may be like that, but as I said a large majority, not all, simply choose to wear a Man united or Liverpool kit simply because they know them to be a big club who are rich and have world class players. That's it. I doubt they follow them for any other reasons or with any great passion, your friends may do so though.

I just feel that teams like United, Liverpool, Chelsea and recently some smaller sides in England choose to seriously exploit the Asian market. Which is fair enough, we done it to an extent with Ki and Nakamura.

However as I said I think it creates alot of 'fake fans' as I choose to call them and I don't think having millions of fans who know very little about the team and it's history and who don't really care that much whether they lose or draw makes you any bigger of a club. Hence why I argued that Arsenal having millions of followers in Asia should not be one of the factors making them bigger than us.

No there's not you go to the football to watch the game. Save politics for the political arena.

Celtic are bigger than Porto and Galatasaray.

I also don't think Arsenal and Juventus can match us in terms of worldwide fanbase. It is the Irish connection that makes all the difference, at the end of the day.

Celtic have played In two European cup finals one of which they have won. Arsenal have won nothing in almost a decade and their manager is still In a job . This would not take place in any other large European team . We are bigger than arsenal they've only been getting 55000 plus last 4 years .

    Bullshit :smiley-laughing002:

Juventus have the biggest fanbase in Italy. By far and away the most successful team as well.

Because the EPL sucks and the Dutch league is the next most realistic in terms of travel distances. Good little league too, far better than the SPL.

And that view, in itself, is political!

It's the political and historical expression of the Celtic support which separates the club from other generic, mundane, 'soul-less' clubs like Liverpool, Hibs, Dundee United etc. It's what makes the club unique, and much more than just a football club.

Juve definitely can. Arsenal, I'm not sure, but I suspect they can.
