Picked this up from the BBC Sport web site, apparently it in a few tabloids. I can't believe Naka only has a £1million buy out clause. Bad bit of business on Celtic part if it's true don't you think.

'Celtic playmaker Shunsuke Nakamura seeks clarification on his contract amid reports he has a clause allowing him to leave the SPL champions for £1m. (Various)'.

Yeh I can't really see that being the case at all, unless the board went crazy or something

Doubt it PL is a wise man therefor would not put such silly clauses in high profile players contracts...

It'll just be the red rags trying to take the heat of the Huns lack of transfer activity thus far...

This sounds very bizarre and unlikely to be true. Naka may be checking like Real Madrid were looking for holes in Beckhams MLS move but hopefully like his, its air tight.

Very surprised, hopefully Celtic will shoot down the story before noon

absolutely no chance that this will be true. i mean putting a 1 milloion pond release clause in your star players contract . . . . . . we're not * stupid. has any one even checked to see if this * is even associated with naka? how many times are the record gonna print that he is leaving jus so celtic have to come out later that day and deny it.
i suppose "Naka Leaving FOR a Million" is a better headline for them as opposed to, "Celtic set to sign u21 golden boot winner for peanuts" or "Orcs bid for french man - 10 million reasons why that wont happen"

He wasnt our star player when the contract was signed, he was a new player and no one can tell wether a player will settle at a club or not, he could have been a dud.

They meant they would pay him big money, apparently he is not happy with his wages compared to other players.

This is agents at it again. He signed a contract and was happy enough, now agents see an avenue for more money and will cause unrest to try and get it.

I dont believe he was bought for his abiltity, initially it was to get in to the market in the far east (as with du wie but that didnt work out)....Now though he has great ability and is great to sell shirts in his part of the world so celtic are quids in and there is no danger they would ever let him go for one million...They could up his wages and he would pay for himself in the revenue generated in the far east...

No worries Bhoys! I'm sure this is media crap, and it'll be Boruc's turn again next week no doubt. Anway the club has said this:

CELTIC today shot down claims a £1m release clause exists in Shunsuke Nakamura's contract.
It came from Naka's lawyer, who also claims a host of major clubs are ready to bid for the Player of the Year.
CELTIC today shot down claims a £1m release clause exists in Shunsuke Nakamura's contract.
It came from Naka's lawyer, who also claims a host of major clubs are ready to bid for the Player of the Year.
But a senior Celtic source denied any such clause exists in a deal with two years to run. And they said Celtic will vigorously repel all attempts to move Naka out of Parkhead.
The Japanese star's complicated hierarchy of agents hold serious power in determining the midfielder's future.

But today it has become clear the man at the top of the pile, main agent Roberto Takuda, is not one of those agitating either to negotiate a massive pay rise for Naka or move him out.
Under the terms of the contract hammered out with chief executive Peter Lawwell in the Far East last summer, the player - signed from Reggina in 2005 for just £1.4m - is reputed to earn between £18,000 and £20,000 per week, although his actual income is several million pounds when personal contracts are factored in.
Naka's Italian-based lawyer, Angelo Massoni, claims four top clubs are ready to offer him double his Celtic wage - including long-time admirers Atletico Madrid and Spurs, who were reported to have bid £6m for him a few months ago.
If this offer was made, it would support Celtic's assertion that there is no get-out clause which would allow Naka to leave for £1m.
Nevertheless, Massoni cranked things up when he said: "I think the clause is there, but there are lawyers studying the contract at the moment."
Massoni added: "I have spoken with Roberto Takuda about this and we want to meet with Celtic next week. We have four of the biggest clubs in the world interested and they're willing to pay big money. We will recommend these offers to Celtic. We can't name the clubs until we have informed Celtic first.
"If Celtic want to make a better offer, that is up to the club."
With Scott Brown and Massimo Donati already secured for a total outlay of £7.5m, competition for midfield places will be intense this season.
But the chances of Stephen Appiah joining the fight is ebbing away as the £5.7m Fenerbahce player's demands of £40,000-per-week are considered excessive.
That wage could be freed up if Thomas Gravesen accepted a move to Besiktas, but the Dane has no desire to head for Turkey.
And Craig Beattie looks to be on his way to West Brom in a £1m move which could be concluded at the start of next week.1m move which could be concluded at the start of next week.

Appiah unfortunatley is not coming to celtic as it would cost 14M in wages and transfer fees and we are pulling out of the deal cos of this.
