    Aye.

In any other line of work, his employment would have been rightfully terminated. If I were a construction worker and I didn't render the service expected of me, I wouldn't get paid, would I?

I'm all for job security but there comes a point where you have to say enough's enough. Derk Boerrigter has contributed absolutely nothing to this football club. If the football club weren't selecting him, he'd have the right to terminate his contract with sporting just cause; if he's not available for selection, then the club should be able to take the same course of action. It's a two-way street.

Perhaps the period in question could be longer to account for serious but not career-ending injuries. Missing three-quarters of a season or even a full season? Okay, fair enough. Missing the best part of two seasons through injury and, I suspect, a lack of ability or effort? It's probably time to think about a change of profession or at least a change of environment. That kind of job security would still be far greater than in almost any other line of work and when you consider the sums of money involved, I don't think it's unfair at all. It's not as if footballer's are on the breadline.

My concern's less for the corporation and more for the supporters paying his wages. If I went to a play and the actors didn't show up, I'd be asking for a refund.

The Ajax fans called him 'tampon' - in for one week, out for three. :smiley-laughing002: We don't even get that.

He does have the right to see his contract out or get paid off to have it terminated tbf to the guy. Nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to footballers contracts. I don't blame him. Remember Ljungberg getting paid a few million to terminate his contract at West Ham.

was always a risk signing him but he has disappointed far more than i expected...

for such a renowned scouting system we don't half sign some absolute dross.. coupled with a few players who cannot adapt to the scottish game.

pukki, balde, bangura to name just 3 expensive mistakes..

Has the potential to be one of the best players at the club, defo a player.

Unreal the way so called Celtic fans are treating him. Disgusting, have a look at yourselves ffs.

A think an improved contract will bring out the best in him. Forget the two seasons out Injured, remember his 20 min debut? Worldie classesquire

Has anyone ever read soccernomics? Our signing policy follows this as if it is gospel. Derk was not top of our list by any means and his signing was a gamble which could have paid off. It didnt. If it wasnt for his injuries then he would have been a success here. Ah well.

I've seen Moneyball (about the same strategy in baseball). I'm guessing it's much the same.

On paper, the signing was great. He'd made the same number of appearances for Ajax as Joe Ledley had for us the season before, he had experience of playing in the Champions League and he was coming from a European giant. It was the most excited I'd been about a player in years. He had a bright start on his debut, went off after twenty minutes and the rest is history. :smiley-laughing002:

The Boerrigter and Pukki deals are not ones I blame the club for.

Nor I. I actually think the club's to be credited for its ambition in doing those deals.
