With all due respect, this is a Celtic forum and Celtic fans are probably the most passionate in the world so, anyone who isn't a Celtic fan who says anything that might be construed as even slightly negative... will have the metaphorical * ripped out of them.

Joe should be given 50 grand a week and a UEFA award just for being the only modern footballer with any sense of loyalty and decorum.
*I will retract this if he moves to Stoke in a month.

 

It could have been worded better but still agree with most of it..

First off you show disrespect to a player you obviously still have a feeling of bitterness for by saying he's no better than all the players you mentioned when infact he's probably better than all of them,no disrespect.
You then throw in a little sly dig and say we take all you're homegrown players for f all,I didn't think you're squad was that thread bare seeing as its only been 2 we've snapped up,1 you're old manager left totally to ruins as a kid after 1 bad game...

Anyway he won't be going nowhere and 3 mill is an insult again but then you know that...
I'm delighted at how you're two old players are doing and have done for us,total class guys on and off the park it seems..

Okay, it looks like what I've posted has definitely been taken out of context and misconstrued.

Firstly, as I've already clarified, I've got no bitter feelings towards Joe. What I was trying to say was that a lot of our fan base do, not myself personally.

Secondly, how was that a sly dig? That was a little joke, not offensive in the slightest. If anything it was a dig at Cardiff City for letting two of our best home grown players in ages leave for nothing. You've definitely got the wrong impression with that one. What is there to be offended about?

As you can see, I've barely said anything offensive, so now I'm 'getting my knickers in a twist' for calling out a * post that just insulted me? Seems a wee bit out of line mate.

 

I think the reason that people are a bit * at some of what you said mate is because you are saying that Cardiff have better players than Joe. There is little to no evidence to suggest this is true and Joe has played and performed well at a higher level than the guys you mentioned. You should also consider that Joe has improved since he was at Cardiff.

 

Fair enough if I've read it wrong,can't be arsed to argue believe it or not..

Alright ladies, calm down. Obviously a Cardiff fan is going to rate Cardiff players highly. Let's just hope that everyone else in Engerlund (and Wales) shares his opinion, so we can keep hold of Ledley.
Honestly, those idiots down south in the Sky Sports league underrating our players can only be seen as a good thing.

 

I admit what I said did was a bit controversial :icon_mrgreen: But I did go back and clarify it.

Thing is though,(and this opinion will probably get slaughtered) it's tough to say he performed at a higher level consistently when he's only played a handful of games at Champions League level and the rest at a level lower than the Championship.

He did play well in the CL for you lot, he did have cracking games against Barca, but the sample size is just far too small to draw conclusions from. I think if you put Gunnarsson in his position, he could cope just as well most of the time.

I guess it's hard to say since they both play in different leagues at different levels, but we'll see. This season will either prove me right or leave me looking stupid. There's no way to tell until the end of the season and we see just how well these players will cope at Premiership level.

 

That's pretty much what it boils down to at the end of the day. I'm not going to change any Celtic fans opinion, and they're not going to change mine.

But the bold part...lets just say underrating players works both ways.

 

There is ample analysis in my reply, just because it does not tie in with your inflated opinion of everything Cardiff dry your eyes. You come onto a Celtic forum and spout egotistical drivel and expect me to accept it as critical analysis, grow up!!

This is simple, Cardiff play Championship Football that is their level at his time, Celtic play CL football that is their level at this time. Therefore there are a few more years before Cardiff are anywhere near Celtics level so irrespective, if you love Cardiff them facts are the facts. Cardiff have no players who would be good enough for Celtic, simple.

Bellamy doesn't count, he's only there for family reasons.

Hudson, Gunnarsson, Whittingham and Noone are decent but not as good as Ledley.

 

Unfortunately, just because he plays for a team in the Champions League, it doesn't mean he's better than the players not playing in the Champions League. Doesn't work like that.

I could use that logic and say Frazer Campbell has a cap for England, so he must be better than Gary Hooper. But I'm not stupid, so I won't.

I'm pretty sure you've never even seen half our players play, but yeah, that's only a small detail when talking about how bad they are.

I'll leave you to enjoy your stint in Spain mate, relax a little bit. Christ knows you could use the time to cool down, must have been a stressful year for you judging by these insane bursts of rage. If you happen to have some spare time however, you could look up the meaning of irony instead of wasting your time replying to my 'egotistical drivel'.

OK, now we are getting somewhere with the more conciliatory tone. I am more than willing to accept your general argument minus the EPL bandwagon stuff which to be honest I am tired of.

Cardiff do have some very talented players some of which will go onto bigger things but at this point Cardiff and the players that they have, have never played CL football. Now I have watched and played enough football to know it is about levels and Celtics players are proven at a higher level at this time. That is not to say that Cardiff players will not in future.

Now onto the irony bit. My main point ironically speaking was do not attempt to paint partisan nonsense with reasoned debate. I am more than willing to accept any type of articulated argument but I will not tolerate that drivel, no stress either.

So cheer up, Cardiff are on the way up, enjoy it and move forward with your team, there is no need for the usual condescending rubbish that we need to deal with from all things EPL.

Oh and Spain is brilliant as is their football!

 

If Ledley wants to leave for the Premiership then surely he'll go to a team who'll be there for more than a year ?
