I would happily join in with the Anthony Stokes bashing...except he's hardly the only one who is underperforming.

It's clear (so far anyway) that the striker up top on his own is getting nothing. Nor the striker behind. Nor anyone.

It could be pretty fair to say that domestically the entire team bar Craig Gordon, Commons, Denayer and Brown are underperforming.

I can't think of anyone else who would get anywhere near pass marks - and that's a worry.

When the team raise their game and Stokes still isn't get anywhere, then I'll reserve it for now.

The blame right now lies with Deila. He must carry that can.

Van Dijk has had a good season so far as well in my opinion.

It also annoys me when folk assume that individual players are the only ones being "bashed" by the fans. That isn't the case. Every player in the team who isn't performing well, will ultimately get criticism from the fans. Some more than others of course, but no player will be immune from. A quick look on individual player threads will back that up.

Aww petal, sorry for annoying you :celt_2:

You will be more than aware that certain players get more abuse than others aka Sammy and Stokes. Certainly where I sit at CP he seems to get much more than his fair share of abuse. If he gets ANYTHING wrong people start bursting blood vessels.

Maybe it's right that they get more abuse because those people think they are bad players (wouldn't be my opinion but cest la vie and all that.)

My own personal opinion is that Stokes doesn't necessarily deserve more criticism than the vast majority of our players. Bar a few they've pretty much all been * (or various shades of.)

    Just my opinion :50:

    I'll survive, only just mind.

Stokes doesn't get any more criticism than Ambrose does. The fact is, any footballer in World Football will get criticised for poor performances, it's no different at Celtic. You almost made it out as if Stokes is the only player who gets it in the neck from fans, which certainly isn't the case. Johansen has been given a lot of stick this year, as has Ambrose, as has Stokes, Izaguirre also. The main reason being, they have all had very poor starts to the season. As you said in another thread, football is a results business, and if we aren't winning, Ronny Deila will be top of the hitlist for fans, just like certain player will be if they are playing below par. It's part and parcel of football.

Most of the guys in our team deserve a lot of stick because they have been * pish at their jobs this season. As I was saying in the other thread how many players have actually looked good this season, I can only think of two. Embarrassing, and these comedians are being paid more in a week than most people get in a year. Despite doing a * job.

Well yes, because he's clearly not pish. He's been a good player for Celtic.

Is he not doing the business and needing replaced right now? Yes. Does that mean we ignore all that has went before? No.

:smiley-laughing002: Fair enough. Being a news writer I would expect a bit more background and substance to your story though.

I was only having a laugh.

In all seriousness I agree that at times he has been a good player for celtic. However at other times I really feel his attitude is not great and fitness wise he could improve. Hence the reason he's finding it hard under Deila same as a lot of the players.

Would like to see him in commons role think he could do a good job there and is a bit stronger and faster than commons.

Maybe you two could meet for a pint and slap each other on the back. Who knows where the night might lead?

His fitness isn't the issue under Ronny, have you actually watched him? He's running about like a * maniac.

If anyone is embracing the high pressing it's Stokes.

Better players than him now in both of his positions so hes * doubt he will feature to much before he moves on. Guidetti and Scepovic are ahead of him in the striker role and hes not going to do commons out of a job.
Hes only hope is he pals up with ronnie. Like every home nation player did with lennon.

Aye hes running about like a maniac but apart from the dundee united game his touch has been * when he gets the ball something he did not previously have a problem with. That tells me all that running is tiring him out bringing the rest of his game down.

And i do watch the games thank you.

You may have a point there.

    Sorry, didn't mean to be a *. :50:

    Edit.

Wait a minute! I didn;t accuse you of not watching the games, only Stokes.

    Ya * :smiley-laughing002:

I can't think of one Scottish or Irish player who didn't make it under Lenny. :87:
