unless there is a 'big secret' that we will be playing in the premiership next season...
we will not be spending £8 million on a icelandic player!!!!
come on ! do the sums??
a further say....£8 million on wages over 4 years...
    £16 million at least!.....
so...how does the plc justify that outlay on 1 player?....

on top of that ...do you really think he's going to leave the nou camp the mighty Barcelona...swap La Liga....shun manchester united to come to celtic??
yes! we are a massive club....
but fixtures against...gretna..motherwell stenhousemuir in the cup??......

    naw!

have u seen a handsome hun
i can see us having the draw to lure a player like gudjohnsson when it comes to satisfying his needs....ie. champions league, winning domestic trophies, and he'll score a barrowload up here.

but from a financial point of view....8mill signing then massive wage demand..... it just isnae practical.

i'd be looking for two players for an outlay of 8million.

realistically though gudjohnsen was never going to come, he would rather stay at barca than us...we could not afford his wages and 8 mil is a bit to much to throw away on 1 player

All those saying that we cant pay £8mill for one player..... Why? Are we not in the most sound financial state for many a years, income streams from every corner of the globe.

We are looking to move to the next level (all be it that is prob only quarter finals of CL, but progress is progress), so why shouldnt we spend big. Gravesen, reprted £40k a week, Jarosik bout £25k. If they go thats 60k+ a week, how is it we cant afford his weekly wage again. Even if they stay we surely have enough in the tank for that.

We are looking at making big name signings. Think he fits the bill. As for Paoloantony... Why wouldnt we spend £8mill on an icelandic player? Is it because he is from Iceland? Dont u think thats a bit stupid the fact that Iceland were really no worse than Scotland over the last few years. He has played for big teams and been held out of the team by two of the best players in the game today (Drogba and Eto).

As for Bellamy.. The guy was good for us, hasnt exactly set the heather alight at Liverpool so why all the fuss bout him and not wantin Gudjohnsen. Ok Bellamy is fast, but so is Big Beattie and dont see folk busrtin to keep him. Gudjohnsen is a better footballer and, from what I have seen, better goal scorer. (As is the norm now I am stating this is my opinion only)

My source at CP tells me

    Celtic have Targeted 5 players:eek:

Including Guily and Appaih and that Celtic are defo signing 2 midfielders and 1 striker and they have 10 million to spend on these 3 players

Also he tells me tha Naismith wont be signing

and the Doumbe deal might not go through

Gudjohnnsen and Appaih and ill be chuffed, although I think we do need another class centre half - I think we're pinning to much hope on Kennedy coming back and being 'world class' and O'dea is still developing.

It always amazes me when people are asked to name their sources. If the guy named his source and people who told him the info found out, then he wouldnt get access to any info in the future.

Wake up m8, dont ask people to name their sources. A source told me this info.

I personally don’t believe things that come from people saying “a source told me” “my uncles goldfish told me” etc. Its nothing against the person giving the information but all to often it turns out to be bullshit, I don’t think there has been one time when I seen a rumour started by “a source told me” that has came true.

The source has to be named like a source from celtic-mad could just be alot of utter rubbish. Please only post rumours from journalist websites which it's their job to bring true news.

Although we do have this new sub forum so it doesn't matter asmuch :50:

But it doesn't mean you can spam this forum just becuase it's named Transfer Rumours.

    Anyway back on topic

I don't think The guy would cost 8 million personally I think he would cost 4-5 million as in football you can't expect to get all your money back from a signing unless they improve which he hasn't.

here is a run down of the facts:

    1) in the saturday papers he said he would be interested in both celtic and man u but said although man u are a bigger club - he thinks he is gauranteed a starting place at celtic
    2) as for money man u will not get into a bidding war for gudjonsen- pure and simple. celtic hav more financial might in that kind of money if they like the player, man u would rather spend more on a better player.
    3) bellamy is crap. crouch was preferred to him this season but rafa tried to give him a chance - he didnt produce. he only seems to score for his country although he works hard and has pace. sound familiar? yes he is a welsh kenny miller, although slightly faster, slightly more hardworking and slightly better.
4)eidur only didnt get a game because barcelona play a 4-3-2-1 and gudjohnsen isnt as good as eto'o. that said he was playing alongside messi for the last couple of games of the season and if you are good enough to edge ronaldinho out of a starting spot then you are good enough for celtic. thats not even mentioning his form while eto'o was injured.
    5) he seems the kind of player who could form a good partenership with JVOH and succeed in our most coveted dream - the champions league. he could also drop back if zurawski is playing well and act as cover in midfield. can bellamy do that? no he is rash, undisciplined and generally a "bad boy".
