    Not a great comparison.

Hooiveld and Fox were both signed when Southampton were in the Championship. Neither of them are 1st choice for Southampton in the Premier League next season. Dejan Lovren and Luke Shaw are ahead of them for centre back and left back.

Scott McDonald was deemed not good enough by Southampton whilst Southampton were in the Premier League. Billy Sharp is going to leave Southampton whilst Southampton are in the Premier League.

First off i don't know enough about billy sharp to give a firm opinion.

But this attitude that he isn't good enough for Europe but will score for fun in the spl...
    Then I've two words..leigh griffiths

Id have Austin ahead off sharp. Sharp seems abit of a journey man. He's never made it although being 27. Championship seems to be his level. Now im not saying Austin has made it. But he's progressed and scored goal everywhere he's been. So who's to say that won't continue if he signs for us or goes to the epl.

I also think Kevin Doyle will sign..especially if watt goes out on loan

Scott McDonald was a teenager when he left Southampton - who went on to become a goalscorer in the Champions League, and top goalscorer for Celtic :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

I just don't think he'd be that prolific on a regular basis for us :50:

Hooper was inconsistent last season and managed to score 31 goals for us
Predicting 20-22 goals for Billy Sharp isn't exactly hilarious

That say more about your knowledge of football than it does about their ability. :86:

Hooper has never scored less than 20 goals per season for us, and has continually better his scorer record year after year with us.

Hooper was also a 20 goals+ man in the Championship with a lowly Scunthorpe United.

Ironically enough, Billy Sharp's most prolific period came when he was at Scunthorpe - but since then, he hasn't broken the 20+ mark, even if his record is decent.

Just personally, I don't think he would be our main striker.

Nah, just means he doesn't care to give a * about some lowly team in the top flight of English football :bbpd:

People on here already accepted that Southampton have good players and as good a squad as Celtic. Doesn't change the fact they're a diddy club.

As for Sharp, he looked very good for Doncaster but he's seriously dipped recently. I'd have him as a 4th choice but not as a starter.

Look mate you have made some good points on here at times. Right now your tone is irritating me. I don't understand why you are coming on here giving it big licks with the ''hes a southampton reject''. Billy Sharp done a job for your club. When the EPL season starts I hope you don't hurt yourself when you come crashing back down to earth.
