We can't afford for him to keep his options open though. If he won't sign a new contract then we have to sell him in this window. Then we can all stop moping about and bring in a replacement.

    He wants out mate.

As soon as any bids (specifically from Engerlund) get accepted, he will be out of her in a flash.

cant see it being a bad thing older head with experience around our young lads , would score for fun in the spl aswell , champions league class player and not commanding a fee or high wages as the article said finances arent his main priority now

I think you've misconstrued the saying. Somehow.

With the noises about Hoops this morning there's no doubt we need a ST who can finish to replace him.
No idea about Balde - but seems he's the more physical sort and whilst we've been needing to add that element to our attack it's not how we / Lenny's team do things.
On a free, and if he were to fit in with our wage strutcure, I'd snap him up - but I imagine the addition of Celtic's name to the report is nothing more than a filler...

    We can afford.

I'm 100% sure he'd rather be at us than QPR; who are the only solid interest.

Without reading through all the pages of this thread - what are the chances of this happening do we think?

The board love a 'blue chip number 7'. I'd love Saviola too.

Not for me. 31 going on 32. Miku had a better record in La Liga with Getafe before signing for us than Saviola had last season.

Would be a great creative option at front if he did sign, however when facing reality, would this make little sense. He does not fit our signing policy, his wages would be high, and there would be good competition to sign him. I would gladly take him though.

On the other hand perhaps Lawell recognises that a big name signing might spark the imagination of the fans to make up for the obvious deficiencies with the league construct etc.
