Just spent a large chunk of time watching videos of Wanyama, there, and I feel a great depression coming on. One of my best memories is from his first season when a Rennes player kicked him and fell on his backside. Victor just brushed it off, not even kicking him square in the chest was going to fell him. Monster! :54:

Have to admit I'll miss the big man.

Like 99% of the players that leave to the EPL, he goes with my best wishes. He comes across as a top bloke and WILL go right to the top.

:( this is especially hard. i never thought it would ever happen - that a kenyan might pull on the hoops of my team but there it was and he did wonders here. i'll miss you.

People should calm down about Wanyama leaving - he's not that good but he does have the potential. He has made a poor move imo and if he's on the reported 30k / week - a very bad move.

It'd be worse if he moved to a mid-table club in another league, whereas Southampton, he has the chance to show off his talents and push on from there. There's greater potential for a big move for Victor.

I'm frankly not interested in the money we received for him. It's not like he was in the last year of his contract and he didn't seem that upset about continuing as a Celtic player. Take into consideration the dubiousness of whether we're entitled to a sell-on percentage or not, is kind of concerning, as well.

It's also concerning that he's only getting £30k a week at Southampton. Surely we could have matched that. As you said, he didn't seem unhappy.

I'm delighted with the money we received for him. He's a great player, but if I'm totally honest, I think he's boobed going to Southampton.

It wasn't long ago some were saying he could play with any top team in Europe and not look out of place, and now he's going to be playing with Southampton.

Good luck to him, but he'll need it.

We might not have been able to match that but we could still have made him a top earner like Broony or Georgie Bhoy which would still be over £20,000 a week. I think he's a * idiot to go to a diddy club to fight relegation, and win * all just for a few extra grand.

You don't know what he's getting per week, either do the press, these things are usually guesstimates.

Still feel gutted about this even though I've known it was inevitable since before Christmas when he knocked back an extension.

Aye. His wages have probably just been quadrupled and he'll be walking on air thinking about playing against Rooney, Toure, Mata, Hazard, Kompany and all the other big diddies down there every week.

Probably also glad he doesnt need to venture to wee shiteholes like McDairmud park, Fir Park etc any more either.

Whats the worst stadium in the Premiership? probably Craven Cottage which holds 25,000 and is usually full, its in a nice part of London and the team that play there have the likes of Berbatov, Hangeland, Ruiz, Duff, Amorebieta. Up here its a toss up between half the League at who has the worst stadium or whos stadium is in the biggest shitehole lol

    I'm not picky.
Not a bad move at all. He wanted to play in the EPL and now he's there. If he continues to play for Southampton the way he played for us (and playing in a better class of league than the SPL) he'll only get better and then could go on to a much bigger team in that league.

Bit disappointed to see him leave, but we can't say it wasn't coming eh? It's been on the cards for a while, and the best thing to do is thank the big fella, wish him the best of luck, and start looking for the next Wanyama.

I know a lot are a bit peeved he's gone to Southampton, rather than one of the bigger clubs he was linked with, but at the end of the day, Pochettino seems to be building something there; the club clearly have ambition, and it's an opportunity to put himself in the shop window of the big clubs back garden week in week out.

I've kinda accepted that this is our policy now - particularly when it's breaking the Scottish transfer record for a player with less than a year to run on his contract.

Anyway - best of luck to him, and I look forward to seeing who our scouts decide is the next Wanyama.
