I would happily retutrn all the mediocre players we got on the granny rule. All our best players are proper Scots anyway. Test should be can you read and understand the broons annual.:56:

Lets known him (Macbeth style) simply as 'the celtic winger'. BTW im not bothered about 'the celtic winger' now. Not with Shaun, Deeks, Faddy and others available I wouldnt pick him for club or country ahead of what we have anyway unless he suddenly improved a lot.

I have no idea how he became a 1st pick. He cant control a ball or pass to one of his own players. He is 24 carrot mince, and its hsrd to get 24 carrots into a pot of mince:38:

We have Fletcher, Ferguson, Hartley, Adam, Severin, Ian Murray, Maloney, Gaz Caldwell and a few others who can all play in the central midfield position

If a guy improves the squad (& therefore our chance of qualifying for Finals) & he qualifies for selection then go for it.
Other bigger & better countries than us do it & it's not cheating, so I say * it sign him up, if he'll go for it - he's lightning fast, has goals in him & plays at a pretty high level. Scored against Man U, Chelsea & Liverpool in his 1st full season - not bloddy bad, so doubt he'll actually come to Scotland!

Agbonlahor can choose Nigeria if he wants to. I can see it tho. I thnk he'd rather play in Europe. I cant see him choosing anyone apart from England. Hope I'm wrong tho.

Scotland produce the players, no doubt about it but they fall through the gaps for a number of reasons, the incompetence of the SFA and their contradicting rules and * systems, and of course the youth drinking/gang culture.

Its only the ones that really really want it that make it and their often not the best of the bunch, the rest of them would rather be out stealing motors or sacking training to go out drinking.

Faddy went to my school, he was a year or 2 above me, and from what ive heard there were a gd few better players than him in his year, he just wanted it more.

Also doesn't stop some people like Gazza, Bellendmy, Barton & Tony Adams from getting paid thousands a week playing at a high level whilst still being either Alcoholics, arseholes or violent neds - but as you said "just the way things are in our society".

If we can get him then great. Our weakest point is attack at the moment IMO (as long as Gordon doesn't get injured.) He looks a real threat and has genuine pace and can play across the front.

The reason McGeady is disliked by Scotland fans is that he betrayed his country of birth, where he was raised, talking with a Scottish accent, where his parents were born. For another country of similar standards in international competition. It's fine for us to take a couple of english boys who aren't going to get into the engerland team. They have 50m to choose from, we have 5m. Thats the difference.

My problem with the selection policy is this: we only take players with a blood link whereas teams like France, Italy, Portugal and germany to name but a few (not too bad teams) are happy to take players on a residency basis. Who is more Scottish? The player that has lived and played football in Scotland for 7 years, who understands Scottish culture because he experiences it every day or the player who has a scottish granny but has never been to scotland in his life, has no passion for scotland etc etc?

Personally I want the best players possible playing for Scotland, if they qualify through FIFA guidelines that every other country follows then lets pick 'em! France got Zidane that way, Portugal got Deco. Are we so overweighed with footballing riches that we can deliberately choose not to use this option? No IMO.

Also, from the games i watched Nigel Quashie played in he played well and gave 100%. He got the vast majority of his caps during the Berti Vogts era. Remember who else was playing in that team,? Kevin Kyle and Stevie Crawford up front anyone? I don't think he is a poor player, he just isn't a flashy one. He gets the job done. He's of a far higher standard than eg Charlie Adam, Gary Teale, Graham Alexander.

I Would choose scotland .. if he played for england it ll be harder to break into the team ... and there would be a lot more competetion and of course the media would be on his * if he didnt perform .. if he plays for nigeria well hes guranteed a spot ... but i think that should be his last choice he should play in europe to reallly improve

Quashie plays in the EPL has been tranfered 3 times in multi million pound deals and was england under 21 captain. He's a grafter with a decent shot on him.

Charlie Adam plays wide left but can't cross, has no pace, can't beat a man and was playing in the Scottish first division last season. The only reason he plays for Rangers is because they can't afford anyone better and i'm sure that Walter Smith is desperate to get in someone better.

But that wasn't my point. I think we should use the rules to our advantage like evry other team other than us do and not be so insular about using players that have residential status here.
