He is one of the best center backs I have seen at Celtic in my lifetime anyway. If we do well in Europe next season we could get upwards of £10m for him easily. I would say he is worth at least £10m.

Reminds you of a young Kompany or Hummels, where hes just so assured and good on the ball.

Hooper played in a '* league' too and he's now proving his worth down in the so-called best league in the world, getting another goal today to make it 7 for the season. He also missed a few Norwich matches through injury.

Virgil has already proven himself at CL level and he's only been here for four months.

Didn't watch the way he handled Balotelli and Matri at the San Siro or how he kept Barca's forwards effectiveness to a minimum at CP I take it. Jog on:bbpd:

I find him even more impressive when you consider he's playing next a time bomb in Ambrose who he may have to try and cover for at any moment because of a horrendous mistake. Must play on your mind a bit that.

Nice attempted trolling. 9 times out of 10 he was covering Ambrose's back in the CL, so really he was doing 2 centre back's jobs as 1 person.

Virgil van Dijk believes that Celtic can go the whole of the Scottish Premiership season unbeaten, after scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 defeat of St Johnstone.

The Dutchman helped his side to extend their lead at the top of the table to 11 points from second-placed Motherwell, and their unbeaten run to 18 matches.

Celtic face a trip to Inverness next, and the former Groningen man feels that there is belief in the squad to go unbeaten throughout the campaign, a feat that no side has achieved since Rangers won all 18 games in the 1898/99 season.

The Dutchman said: "Yes, I think so, we have enough quality to do it. We have a great team and the team spirit is also very good so it is possible.

"So it is possible but we have to go out and do it. That is the thing."

While the Dutchman provided the goal in the game, he was perhaps fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty after tangling with Stevie May in the second half.

Few Virgil facts, I read in the Celtic View.

He wears Virgil on the back of his top as Van Dijk is his dads name and he has never had contact with him.

His favourite musicians are Jay-Z and Drake.

His favourite Christmas present was a PS2 as it was unexpected.

He thinks Messi is better than Ronaldo.

Graziano Pelle, the top scorer in Holland last season and current 2nd top scorer said he was the best defender he played against in Holland.

    His favourite Simpson is Homer.

He prefers Playstation to PC or Xbox.

When he goes Celtic on FIFA he plays himself as a striker so he can score more goals.

His closest friends at the Club are Ambrose, Fisher and Balde.

Without sounding like the prophet of doom my heart sank a little when he scored that mazy goal.

First thought was how long before I see him in a Utd shirt. Hope like you he doesn't get ahead of himself but can't hide class for too long.

Feyenoord striker not impressed by defenders in Eredivisie

Graziano Pelle is not impressed by the level of the defenders in the Eredivisie. The Italian, who makes this season furore in rush at Feyenoord, claims to be very few 'tested'. Only against FC Groningen Pellè struggled. "Virgil van Dijk puts it head and shoulders above the rest."

Pellè, as striker AZ sparsely came to scoring during an earlier period in the Netherlands, has been unstoppable this season. The attack leader Feyenoord came to 22 goals in 24 Eredivisie Duels. Why? "The defenders in the Netherlands are not that hard to play," explains Pellè in the NRC Handelsblad. "Most defenders go quickly to a major league in the Netherlands. "In the Premier League alone Van Dijk jumps above it. He was very strong in the one-to-eenduels.

Van Dijk also said the Scottish and Dutch Leagues were the same level, only differance was that in Holland teams always try to play football "even when they are 2-0 down" where as in Scotland teams are more defensive and will sit in and play long balls to counter.

What, all those 1 goals they scored at Parkhead?

    * off :bbpd:

Load of *. Ambrose hasn't made a horrendous mistake for ages now, some of you numpties will still hate him for Juve even if he scored a hat trick in a Champions League final for us.

    Van dijk

Without exaggerating, he makes a * up nearly every single game. Whether they lead to goals or not isn't the point.

Watching the game yesterday, I spent a bit of time watching Van Dijik and then Frazer Wright.

Van Dijik is everything a footballer should be and Wright is nothing but a haddie. The difference in quality is frightening.

What Virgil and Efe have been doing more often in the last few weeks, is something we need to do when playing sides at home. Teams will now be a bit more wary of allowing them to step out from the back, which should hopefully free up some space further up the park.

The classiest defender we`ve had in a long time.
