    Hi,
There are a lot of rumours in Bristol that Kjartan Henry Finnbogason is planning to leave Celtic this season for a possible move to Bristol City. Has anyone heard anything similar? What type of player is he etc etc

Any info would be greatly appreciated. :50:

    Hey,

Kjartan Henry Finnbogason is a striker who signed for celtic along with Teddy Bjarnason. Both were rated highly by Willie McStay and GS and there were hight hopes for the future.

Teddy managed to get himself into the 1st team squad towards the end of the season, Kjartan has found it more difficult. He is a decent player with a bit of pace and has youth on his side. I think he would be a good signing.

Lol he's not brain damaged. You think he'd choose Bristol over Celtic?

to be honest I would agree with you Dan, but it was reported in a newspaper from his homeland that he wanted to leave Celtic and try to crack the English league.
He is also reported to have turned down a move to Brescia in Serie B in favour of a move to England. See below

Translated from Icelandic paper Fréttablaðið today:

Finnbogason ready to reject Italy chance for England move

Kjartan Henry Finnbogason has rejected a chance to join Serie B side Brescia to keep his hopes of a move to an english club alive.

Finnbogason is being earmarked by English Championship sides Southampton, Wolves and Bristol City for a summer move with a move to City the most likely to happen.

“Brescia in Italy have been watching Finnbogason for quite a while and a two-year-deal was on the table but he is adamant to try his luck in England so the offer has been rejected,” said Finnbogasons agent Olafur Gardarson to Icelandic newspaper Fréttablaðið.

It is believed that Norwegian side Rosenborg and Swedish champions Elfsborg are keen to run the rule over the striker in the coming weeks.

From what I have read about him he seems pretty decent, I just wanted to know if any of you guys had heard similar?

Based on what i've seen of him he is decent but not Celtic class and Sheridan is a lot lot better. Bjarnison is a miles better prospect. Wouldnt be surprised if Kjartan left left cause ge isnt going to make it here. Hope we get a reasonable fee if he is still in contract.

from hIs goal scoring record for the reserves, he seems like a good buy. A loan deal seems to be the obvious choice for both parties. I myself hope he does sign for us.
If you hear anything else, please PM me.
    THANKS GUYS

He seems a little bit slow and the ball does not seem to stick to him all that well but he scores loads. I think he can play at a reasonable level but not for Celtic. To be honest, celtic are collecting strikers for fun at the moment and unless you are better than the experienced guys like Hesselink, Riordan, Zurawski, McDonald, Killen, Beattie, Miller etc (even if a couple of them go) then it makes sense to leave. The only reserve striker who looks talented enough to leapfrog that list is Sheridan who is the most natural striker I have seen come through in many many years. I will eat my hat if Sheridan is not a 1st team striker for in the next 18 months.

A loan mite not be a bad idea , even tho i feel he is worthy of a place in the 1st squad

Bristol City are set to give a pre-season trial to Celtic striker Kjartan Finnbogason, according to his agent.
The Iceland Under-21 international has turned down a new two-year contract at Celtic Park because he sees no future for himself with the Scottish champions.
Although the former KR Reykjavik frontman failed to break into the Celtic first team, he was a regular scorer for the Glasgow giants' second string last year as they won the Scottish reserve-team title.
Robins boss Gary Johnson refused to confirm that Finnbogason was on his way to Ashton Gate, but his agent, Olafur Gardarsson, said: "He will probably go to Bristol in early July and go on their trip to Latvia.
"He has been with Celtic for two years and played 28 games for their Under-19s and reserve teams and scored 24 goals but he still has not got the chance to play in the first team.
"He is out of contract this summer but there would be the issue of compensation."

That he did, and according to our local media, Kjartan Finnbogason performed well at training despite of suffering from a cold and some ear pain that required medical attention. He also got a chance to see Brann play a league match, and the bottom line was that KFH and Brann were impressed with each other.
He trains with us again this Saturday, before moving on to Gothenburg (and then Bristol).

I guess Brann's advantages in the race (?) for KHF are
*We have three Icelandic internationals in the squad already
*We are currently #1 in the Norwegian league, and qualified for this year's Uefa cup
*Two of our three strikers (Robbie Winters, ex-Aberdeen, being one of them) have contracts that expire at the end of the season. And our third striker, Thorstein Helstad, is reportedly being chased by a number of clubs (even yours, apparently) :p
So Finnbogason will probably get to play a lot.
