That's why you are not involved in football. :bbpd:

This isn't me saying he is good enough for us, because I don't think he is at this stage of his career.

His touch has gone from half decent to utterly abysmal - presumably a direct result of the fact that he's started 3 * games all season.

I honestly don't know why we sign players, UEFA should give us a transfer ban. The odd one or two go straight into the first team (Johansen, Ambrose & Van Dijk) but the rest just sit around twiddling their thumbs.

Balde needs to go out on loan next season.

So you think we should get rid of entire scouting setup, and just rely on gut instinct? :97:

Can't say i'm with you on that one.

And Mouyokolo was a free transfer as backup on low wages, he got a bad injury and I don't think can be considered a poor signing. No-one had any great expectations for him he was only ever going to be cover.

Spoken like a true Celtic supporter , supportive and encouraging to the end . Imagine a Celtic fan calling for UEFA to ban Celtic signing . This man seems the real Celtic fan that would get behind the team and cheer them on when they had fell behind.

Its crazy how people can turn so negative after one game, his first game in ages, in his first season to boot. Give the guy a chance.

He'll go elsewhere and play a blinder and bang in the goals...then one day we'll face his team...and he'll be out for his REVENGE :86:

    I'm not picky.
Half of me wants him to get punted and the other half wants him to get another season for a chance. He's appeared for us 24 times across all competitions....21 as a substitute and the majority of these were him coming on in only the last 5-10 minutes. Hard to really judge anyone properly when they have such a limited amount of playing time.

On the other hand, anytime he does play, he just looks clumsy on the ball.

I'd like to see him get more playing time next season then I'll judge more.

He averages 18 minutes over those 24 games.

Take his three starts out (24th August, 2nd Novermber, 7th May) where he lasted 90, 60 and 88 minutes then he averages a ridiculous 9 minutes over 21 games in all competitions.

His three starts as shown are spread out over the whole season. One at the beginning, one in the middle and one at the end... incredibly we have drawn all three games. I don't think Balde is a factor in this, as just like the St Johnstone game it was a night the whole team wasn't clicking.

The only time he started in a full strength squad was against a good Dundee United team where he got 60 mins. Inverness and St Johnstone we played slightly weakened squads.

His 3 goals have come in 2 games where we have been clicking, the 5-2 and 4-0 against Killie and a tough slug out against Partick where he scored the winner.

Just call me the Balde stat man ;)

Anyway, what I'm saying is I don't think he has been given a fair shot at it. When we play well, he is comfortable and plays well which we have seen when he scores and in friendlies. He isn't a game changer, he was never going to be. But when we are clicking he could be a serious weapon either in regular rotation starting the odd game or coming off the bench.

You could tell his confidence was in absolute pieces the other night, to judge him on this performance is not fair. Maybe he isn't good enough, but I'm not ready to make that decision yet.

I'd like to see him go out on loan next season to a mid-low table SPFL team. See what he can really do with more appearances under his belt.

Agree with everything that MacEwan said.

Quite unbelievable how 95% of folk on here made their minds up about Amido on the other nights showing. Too many fringe players started, the whole team was disjointed and everyone played *. I don't even think Balde was the worst player on the pitch that night either.

I still think he can come in handy. He just needs some confidence instilled in him. Sadly though, I think he'll be punted. Saying that I wouldn't mind seeing home loaned out to another SPFL club because he won't get game time here.

For those who are in love.....
My comments were not just because of the st johnstone game, it's for a multitude of games where he's played and no progression is noticeable.. Let's be honest here even his goals have been scuffs like liverpool, partick thistle and a timid scuffed shot against killie where the keeper made a hash of it.. He scored and that's the main thing but he doesn't look comfortable infront of goal, his touch isn't good with feet or in the air, he just looks lost, it's hard to even make out his best attributes as he doesn't look particuarly strong at any..
He scored a cracker out in turkey and caused liverpool problems but he hasn't really done a thing or impressed me at all in any games he's played, even the reactions on the bench when he's scored are of total shock '*, the big mans never done that in training' kind of thing..

Honestly I'd be amazed if he's here next season, I'd be even more amazed if when he does leave, if we ever hear his name again..
I know he's become a cult figure but it's not because of the talent he is, inafact it's sort of become a joke that nobody actually believes in the guy there chanting about..

What i mean is a lot of money gets wasted in the never ending scour for a big potential sell on fee. Finding the players we've found isn't so difficult to do.

Just because Mouyokolo was a free transfer and a backup player has got nothing to do with anything because you shouldn't be in the business of signing anyone who isn't going to play. Mouyokolo played Ligue 2 in France, went to Hull city, they got relegated. He went to Wolves and played 7 games in his first season. He was loaned out to Sochaux because he was injured all the time. At Sochaux he managed to play in 4 games and was injured all the time.

He then joined Celtic, injured for the whole season. So is that a good signing?

No it's a complete shambles of a signing.

I'm not saying get rid of the scouting network, but they sell 3 players and it's like they're * magicians. If they were so good, there wouldn't be any of this kind of random signing policy going on. It would be structured to ensure we knew we were getting a player who was fit and could actually control a football, beat a player and pass it. That's all we're asking for here. It's not * rocket science like some people believe it to be.

Like i said last Summer, even in Scotland you'll find a good player at every club and we will most probably sign, or attempt to sign none of them, like for example signing Balde ahead of Johnny Russell. Or signing Boerrigter instead of Mackay-Steven.

Who would we have been better off Signing?

I made 10,000v's from it. Could see it coming a mile away.

Funny thing is it could have went completely the other way, if he had scored 95% would have been calling for him to start in the CL. :smiley-laughing002:

I made my mind up on Amido several months ago..... and it remains the same, looks distinctly average and out of his depth with little attributes to show that he's of the required quality needed to be a starting striker for this football club.

I'm not so sure about his clumsiness. I hear many saying that. When big Amido dribbles, his long legs are bouncing and knees gets higher and leaps are longer. He likes to challenge and dribble. It may look kinda clumsy. It's more his style and trade mark. Griffiths keeps it simple. Stokes and Pukki are between.

His playing was a disaster the other night. It was because he's been too long and too many times on the bench. He tried to do it well. But he was doing it with a lowered confidence and sharpness. Lacking match fitness was clearly noticeable in Balde. It resulted in clumsiness on the ball and falling all the time. Normally he is not that clumsy.

    Frank Lampard said:
When you're playing regularly and you do start playing well, scoring goals, whatever position you're in, it's enjoyable to keep playing and it helps.
It's not rocket science: the more you play you get sharper and you get match fit

I kinda half watched the game. But I don't recall us putting in any high crosses to try and take advantage of his height. If only we had Naylor and his crosses :)

I'm not panicking over the signing of him yet. When he signed, Lenny said he was a rough diamond. He's pretty much lived up to that description.

The only way he is going to progress as a footballer is getting game time and starting for a first team now at his age, he is not getting it at celtic and I don't think he ever will, if we are not going to get rid of him the loan him to another SPL or championship side. But I can't see it happening and he may rot on the bench for another season.
