We could end up taking a hiding here, but * it, the atmosphere and the day out overall will be top notch. I can't see there being any trouble between both sets of supporters or anything.

The youngsters might feel that they have a point to prove though, and whom better to prove it against than one of the biggest clubs in the world? It could still get quite competitive out there, friendly or not.

Couldn't make this game. Gutted, especially since I have a brother and sister who live in Dublin, free digs. Few mates gone over and my advice to them was, if you get any snash off Dublin reds ask them where's their union jack! :47:

Hope the 'reserve' team put on a decent display, don't want to get humped. I'd like to think Balde will start this, needs some game time.

Quite looking forward to the game.

Don't understand why some people are annoyed that this game is taking place. Outside of Glasgow Ireland has the biggest/ strongest supporters of celtic. Celtic is a team that was formed to feed the Irish in times of hunger. Thousands of Irish supporters travel to Glasgow every second week to watch their team. In my club we have Celtic supporters in their 60/70/80 who can't go to Scotland as its too far. This is a chance for them and the thousands who sacrifice a lot of time and money totravel to the games in Glasgow. Is it really a waste if time to givd these fans the chance to watch their team play in our capital. This game could have sold out 2/3 times. Everyone still looking a ticket. I hope it's a great game and I know I will enjoy it knowing I'm only two hrs away from home on the train instead of 6 on bus and boat. It will be a great occasion and it can either be a chance to give fringe players a game it to test the first team against a priemier lge team.
    Hail hail. Sin é

It does seem like a bit of a slap in the face for the many thousands of Irish supporters who might not be able to make it to Paradise but spend lots on merchandise.

That being said, when you schedule a glamour friendly in the middle of our most important period of the season this is what happens.

I think Lenny is sending a message to the board with this.

Still, it will be good to see Balde against quality opposition.

I think some people have genuine concerns about the timing of the game now the season has started others just don't like any mention of Ireland in connection with Celtic.

Either way have a great weekend mate. (* wish I'd gone now.) :50:

I think it's more a case of people having an issue with when it is taking place rather than that it is taking place.

I understand what your saying ,but why involve the English in a Celtic/Ireland thing. I,m sorry but coming to Ireland every 3/4 yrs just to play foreign opposition is not enough IMOP... I feel Celtic should send a fringe team with a couple of first team regulers to play in the north, south setanta cup every year. That way they will cover the whole island ,attracting youngsters from Derry to Cork to see the hoops play regularly and locally.:celt_2:

Don't like the look of Rodgers he's a cracking young manager but he always has that shifty look about him

Glad it's a 2nd string team, don't want anymore injures for a pointless match.
