How did you support Celtic? What influenced you?

I'm the same but when I say that to people they think its unusual.

Me. Except my first two names are Ronan and Padraig so I'm not sure if that counts... my grandmother is a very hardline protestant and my grandfather on the other side was a protestant minister but he was very liberal about things and didn't care what anyone was. No catholic or Irish relations at all.

My Grandfather was an avid Celtic fan. He wouldn't let me support any other team. No idea how he chose to support Celtic - I was too young to think about asking that.

Funnily enough; I supported Celtic before I asked about my ancestry. Granny and Granda originally from Donegal. Both moved over here as young children.

I do apologise in advance if I'm getting the wrong end of the stick but are you insinuating that you have to have Irish relations to support Celtic?

Hahah maybe not that hardline ;) nah my mums been talking about getting into the catholic church however you do that and good old protestant granny is having none of that *. Her ancestors 'fought and died' to get rid of Catholicism you know? Aye, she's a bit of an idiot when it comes to that, obviously imo all religion is a load of * but when people get niggly about different sects of the same religion it * me off even more!

Aye . Well I have a northern irish aunt but I don't think that counts as she's not blood anyway.

My dad is a tim so that's where I get it from.

I think most people just support who their dad supports, I don't think at a young age people decide to support Celtic because of their heritage or religion, they do so because they have been surrounded by celtic and it is a natural choice to support them.

My Grandad on my Dads side was Irish but he moved to Los Angeles 20/30 years ago and died a couple of year back.

So I have next to no idea of the Irish history in that side of my family apart from he was Irish :smiley-laughing002:

Would like to find out more trace the family tree etc but not got a clue how to.
