Have a read of this, Falcao is controlled by a cabal of third party investors, Monaco represents the best financial prospect for them to turn a profit so he'll more than likely go there.

Explaining the Falcao move to Monaco

Didn't know that, has he stated that it's his desire to play for Real?

Every top club in Europe would be in a line to sign him.

Monaco are a big name. 7 times french champions. They are more historically successful than Lyon. They were the last side from ligue 1 to get to a CL final. They are a big name. Their location obviously limits their fanbase.

Excellent point. Season tickets should start at £100k alone.

Do you not mean the "gentleman's agreement" that has existed between them for decades? Neither club makes a secret of it. Or, is there actually a clause?

I've heard rumours that he's looking at a deal with Monaco that would allow him to leave after a single season. I don't see any other major club in Europe putting such a deal to him.

That might be the case. But the original point was that he was using them as a stepping stone. It's hard to think that Falcao would need to use anybody as a stepping stone, considering he has been linked with moves to some of the biggest and best teams in World Football. And the fact that he is one of the best strikers in World Football. I don't think it is the correct term.

If he wants to move to Real Madrid he'd need to make a move to someone like Monaco. If he's not looking to move to Madrid then I have no idea what he's doing, unless he's simply going for the money.

It will be interesting to see how Monaco shape up come the start of next season. It usually takes at least a year for teams built with major investment to really get going. But they have started building very early so you never know.

Platini on Monaco and FFP: "UEFA have no power on them for this year, they aren't in the cups. It's question for next year in case.

Yawn. Another plastic team emerges. Why can't they have their own league and leave proper football to the rest of us. Just another example of money ruining football. Are there any movements whatsoever against this *? Any dissenting voices at all? I remember seeing an Ajax banner but that's about it
