They would still be a top league. The Spanish, German and Italian leagues have loads of money too. If tv money wasn't a factor then the English league would still be comparable to Spain, Germany etc.

And even if they spent a * load of cash, there'd be no guarantee they would ever win the EPL, a la Spurs and Liverpool.

They won't reach our level for the foreseeable future. Something incredibly drastic would have to happen.

Well until either of them wins a european cup or even qualifies for the champions league then no they will not eclipse us or the unwashed.
It takes more than money to achieve real success, when money gets pumped into teams ala man city it takes the shine off achievements.

Which is why Swansea's achievements this season have been very good, spent a reasonable sum of money but nothing major and have performed well in a tough league.

The only problem is a year from now there may only be one welsh club in the premier league again as if cardiff do not invest heavily i can see them dropping right back down.

I believe, as I'm sure most fans do, that Celtic is a special club with a special history. Nothing will ever take that away. But following this team can be frustrating at times. As beautiful as the CL nights are it doesn't change the fact that we only have a handful of really meaningful games each season, and that will always be the case as long as we are in the SPL.

I can't see it happening, they aren't anywhere near the size of either Celtic or Rangers and don't have the history of Celtic. There are plenty of teams in the premiership who just float around mid table who will never eclipse us and both Cardiff and Swansea will fall into that bracket.

Really, it never was pre 2000. The English league was seen as a pretty average league, where older players, ready for retirement, went for their last pay day. It was never on the same level as the Italian or Spanish league - they players were nowhere near as good. Maybe the French is comparable. The other leagues you mention have money, bit nowhere near the same as England, in Italy they get £35m a year, whereas the winner of the EPL will get £100m next year!

Maybe the EPL would be a top league NOW, if all money was stripped away, but that is debatable. As I said, they have no homegrown players to back up their league and rely on foreigners to make it look decent.

Swansea City season ticket holder here

We will never eclipse Celtic as a "big club". Celtic with premier league money could achieve great great things.

Swansea will never be a sustained big club..sure we might win a cup here or there or go on a wonderful european run...but season after season for a decade and so on...nah.

What we've achieved in 10 years in nothing short of Football Manager stuff...it was in 2003 that we stayed in the football league with a last day win over Hull at the Vetch Field and look at us now...3 players in the Netherlands squad, League Cup winners, In Europe and with Michael * Laudrup on the bench... there was a documentary on BBC Wales last night called "Swansea City the Fall and Rise". Iplayer that if youre a football fan who loves an emotional sports story.

Celtic are known and loved all over the world, and are the second biggest club in the UK behind Manchester United, Swansea and Cardiff, with all due respect are an insignificance on a global scale, and do not deserve to be in the same sentence as a club like Celtic.

I love seeing the Welsh clubs doing so well in England... I hope one of them win the EPL one day. As far as their teams eclipsing Celtic..well, that takes more than money. You can't buy history and money doesn't gaurentee you trophies or titles. In time with endless pits of money they may go on to achieve great things if the bubble doon' there dosen't burst first.
