I didnt like Niall McGinn, he was too lightweight and wasnt technical enough to work his way though packed defences like McGeady, Maloney, Forrest, Commons and whoever can. Think he is suited to playing for smaller clubs where he gets more space to utilise his pace. He would never have cut it here.

McGinn's best game was probably in that great comeback in Vienna. Thought Telfer came onto a game late in his career here.

Another 2 players that probably did better in Europe for us were Donati and Jarosik.

Donati got the flick on for McManus's goal vs Milan and of course scored the winner vs Shakhtar. Jarosik scored in the same game and won the free kicks for both Naka's goals vs Man Utd. I guess some players are just more suited to Europen games than some SPL matches.

To an extent, Mikael Lustig. I think he's a better player than Matthews. He's better in the air (granted the height difference gives him a huge advantage), better positionally, and reads the game better. Matthews is fantastic, but Lustig would be my first choice right back.

Marc Crosas as well. I felt that in his first season we played a lot better when he was in the team as he kept the ball moving and we were more fluid as a result. We were very rigid and restrictive in our play when Hartley played. I genuinely believe we would have won the league that season had Crosas played more.

Laundry N'Guemo. I was raging when we let him go. I thought he was immense in the middle. Would still have in the team the now if it was up to me. He was a bit like a Lennon type player, not quite as good defensively but better going forward. It was the transition period between Mowbray's team and Lennon's team that spelled his downfall for us, but I thought he was without a doubt the best thing to come of the Mowbray era

Marc-Antoine Fortune- As soon as I saw the thread title he came into my mind, glad I wasn't the first to mention him on this thread :icon_mrgreen:... Good all-round player who was mis-categorised and treated unfairly by the support, he'd have done well in this side.

Shaun Maloney- Flavour of the month at the moment haha, top player curtailed by injuries. Glad he's shone at Wigan.

MO MO MASSIMO Donati- Skillful player who sometimes struggled to adapt to the pace of the game up here, still done well for us imo and should have had more game time. Cant forget that stunner against Shakhtar :50:

But the one that stands out the most for me is big Dan Majstorovic. We broke the clean sheet record with the big man at the back. Very disappointed in how he left the club as well

Niall McGinn is a bit like Hartley he's a good player in a * team! I'm not denying Hartley isn't good but I sure did prefer hartleys style of play at hearts than what he did at us he stood out in a hearts team but was just another player in ours a bit like McGinn!

Didier Agathe - was vital to MON's system
Jackie McNamara - one of TB's best buys
Paul Hartley/Barry Robson - superb in central midfield towards end of 07/08 season

Good to see someone thinks the same as I do about N'Guemo. Whenever our attacks through the middle would break down and the opposition would hoof the ball away, N'Guemo had a great knack for getting hold of it, controlling it, and getting it back into play. I really liked him and wanted us to sign him permanently. Was gutted when we didn't, but we got Kayal, who's quite similar.

The only thing that people who don't like Fortune have to fall back on is his lack of goals and his price tag, as with any player that is what stands out.

The price tag had nothing to do with him, if anything blame Mowbray for that.

I still like him and enjoy seeing him do well in England, the West Brom fans like him, they admit he isn't their best player but he is a hard worker and gives his all for the team.

Donati for me. I thought he was actually pretty good.
