the not so champions league

can anyone tell me if we gotta play qualifiers this year to get into the not so champions league.

am i right in thinking that the two teams contesting tonights champions league final werent champions in their respective leagues.

shame really.... bring back the days when champions played in the european cup.

 

they should either renamed it too the UEFA League or allow only the champions to take part really shouldnt they.I mean it getting contested by a cheating-corupt 4th place milan team and 3rd placed liverpool.Ur title is right the not so champions league

The fact that Liverpool could win it for a second time in 3yrs havin never been close to winning their domestic league since it became the "champions league" is a nonsense.

I say they re-name it too!

 

They should call it the UEFA Super League or something

 

they should rename it to let non champion teams in.

we need these teams because if they weren't allowed in, the competition would be less exciting. no arsenal, no real madrid, no inter milan.

That's just being pernickety, The UEFA Champions' League is just a name. The way the tournament is set up is second to none, the old Europen Cup set-up was nowhere near as exciting and true as the way it is the now.

And anyway, if a non-domestic championship winning side we're to win it, they would still become 'champions' of Europe would they not?

I agree, look past the tournament name. Its the greatest club tournament in world football because of the way its played.

People are only complaining now because we have to go through a qualifier this season. Last season, i didnt see any complaints like this about the UCL.

 

I think that Champions should get automatic entry into the competition. You slog away all season to win your league, then they tell you you have to qualify which can become a stumbling block. I'm sure when the European cup was invented it was built around a principle that the Champions from all the nations in Europe would compete against each other to see who was best. Not very fair now if Champions are not guaranteed entry to the competition and teams who are NOT champions do! It goes against all the basic set up of the competition.

i understand what you are meaning, but that will let all the rubbish teams from eastern europe in, while the bigger teams who did not win the league will knock each other out in the qualifiers.

 

All these rubbish teams from Eastern Europe or anywhere (Scotland), deserve to get access to the wealth of the CL. How are they gonna ever get up there with the big group of clubs if the governing body fixes it so that the big clubs get automatic entry even when they don't win the league, and the 'rubbish' teams (champions) have to qualify. These teams are the Champions and for right or for wrong they should be in the CL. Thats the only way they can get the funds together to improve and compete at a higher level. Do you not think that if these smaller teams got automatic entry then they could attract better players and raise the level of football in their respective counries.

 

u say rubbish teams,but there only bad cause all they un-champions are taking there money pots off them,if it was champions only u'd go back to days when teams that were really the best there country has not just 5 spainish teams 4 italian teams and 3english etc. they need to fix it like return it to a knockout style cup of just champions

Why dont they only allow 2 teams from the major leagues in to the CL & the other teams can go into the uefa cup & make that more exciting & that allows the Champions of there domestic leagues to enter the compititon
